I always wondered why Disney did not purchase that little plot of land? We stayed there in February, and it's pretty much, right smack dab in the middle of Disney World property.

They tried, either they just didn't want to sell to one of the shell companies setup by Disney or by the time they got around to the sale, the owners had figured out who was buying up all the land and asked for too much.

In one of the WDW programs on The Travel Channel, they said 47 square miles. I remember hearing that when I was watching the show.

Disney sold off some of their property a few years back.

Someone can come with the correct number. Wikipedia says 47 sq miles, but I'm not sure if that is before they sold some small parcels of land that they would have never used.

Also I would thing Golden Oaks may get de annexed like Celebration was to keep the unique voting situation of the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
