Border Delays with cut backs

We arrived at Pearson at 4:30 pm to drop my son off for his 7:30 flight to Europe (lucky guy) and our 9:00 flight to MCO. Checked in for our flight by about 5:15. We've been sitting in lounge Q in Terminal 1 since then. It's now 6:35. They won't even let us into the immigration and customs area. It looks like it will be another 90 minutes or about 60 minutes before our flight, before we're allowed in. I certainly wouldn't come earlier than usual.

ETA: They say Customs and Immigration is all backed up. How in h**** are we supposed to get through immigration and security and to our gate in 60 minutes if they're all backed up?? I just discussed with dd and we are cancelling our planned August trip to WDW.

They ended up calling us out of the lounge 25 minutes before our flight. Never got dinner. Sat in that lounge - screaming children - too bright overhead lights because that area was designed to be a checkin area, not a lounge - for over 3 hours. I've been in a foul mood since and it's been 3 days.

We crossed the Peace Bridge border on Thursday morning before the March Break. There were only two stations open for inspection for cars and we were backed up at least half way on the bridge. I hate sitting on that bridge. Too much movement on it!!!!

I flew out on Terminal 3 on Sunday night at 7:30 to Minneapolis ( not my choice) and had no problems at all.

Arrived at airport at 5:10 checked in and it took 1 hour exactly to get through customs and security.

I was suprised how dead it was.

Guess LUCK was on my side for that.

Now once in the terminal, gate chages 3 times, not enough fuel on plane since it was re-routed. We were delayed by 2 hours in total.

I do like the new automated customs termials, that was quick to go through

I wonder if Halifax has these delays? We fly out on a Wednesday at 8 AM. We are flying Air Transat. MY boss recently flew onSunwing and they weren't able to clear customs until they got to Orlando. I really don't like customs in Orlando. At least we are avoiding March break and Easter this year.

Highly doubt it...Halifax is quiet on the best of days ;)

We went accross the Windsor Detroit bridge on the 10 of March for march break and it wasn't busy and if you have a nexus card you get accross very fast.
:cool1:

We just crossed the Queenston/Lewiston bridge on Thursday at noon and only had about a 20 min rate. Came back around 6 with only a 10 min wait. All lines open ....

We crossed yesterday at approx. 7:30pm in Sarnia and there was only about a 20 min wait. This morning we went over and back with a 10 min wait.
