Boozin’ It Up 12/5-12/7 coming ASAP

After the rope dropped, the crowd dispersed. The mass of people split pretty evenly. Half went to Adventureland and the other to Tomorrowland. The number of people who went straight to Fantasyland was significantly less that I had expected.

I snapped this while walking to the castle:
Disney0028.jpg

We stopped in front of the castle and the Photopass Photographer Manny took two pictures on his camera, and two on mine. Here is mine:
Disney0030.jpg

We thanked him and continued on our way through the castle to Peter Pan!

The line was not bad at all. Like I said, not many people were in Fantasyland. We waited maybe 15 minutes…maybe. At the most. Here’s the line that we stepped into:
Disney0031.jpg

I said that I hoped we got a striped one, and low and behold, we climbed into a striped one. What luck! Off we went to Neverland! We giggled as the boat swooped over London, and ooh and ahhed over the beautiful lights. It was wonderful. I could have stayed on the ride all day long. It was a very abrupt stop as the ride kind of bashed into the unloading zone. We had to laugh at the whiplash.

Our giddyness definitely got the best of us and we for sure skipped to our next ride. No joke.

Next we were off to Dumbo! There was one group on the elephants before our turn. A very short wait.
Disney0033.jpg

While waiting in line we chose our elephant. We thought it would be nice to get into number 6 for March 6th. That was the cute yellow one.
Disney0036.jpg

Ready for takeoff:
Disney0034.jpg

And we’re off! I took far too many pictures of us zooming around on that elephant.
Disney0038.jpg

I love the view from up there.

We exited the ride(well mom had a little trouble figuring out how to open the gate and I never let her forget it each time we exited it in the future) and walked over to Mr. Toad.

My boyfriend(long distance relationships are the worst):
Disney0040.jpg

Next was cute as pie Storybook Land!
Disney0041.jpg

Our CM’s name was something with an A…Alex, Allen, Albert…something like that. I just looooved the way he said Jiminy Cricket. It made me giggle uncontrollably. There was a little boy on the ride with us who was just SO excited by everything. He was giving everyone the biggest smiles and clapping his hands after each little house. So. Adorable. After we all stood up on the count of 3, it was a quick walk over to Alice in Wonderland. We had fun in line, especially since my shirt matched.

We had such a good time. We both needed a break, and it was very special to celebrate this birthday with just the two of us.

Great update! :thumbsup2

I am at work and reading this trip report is making me long to be at Disney right now! Looks like you guys were having a great Fantasyland morning!

I LOVE your Cheshire cat top. Can I ask where you got it? I might have to copy! :goodvibes

I've been ready to update for a couple days but couldn't because the site was down. HERE WE GO!

By this point, we were 10 minutes ahead of the flexible itinerary that I had made. Next on my list of Winnie the Pooh, so being ahead of schedule, we took our time getting there. I thought the best way to get to Critter Country from Fantasyland was the back entrance to Fronierland that winds behind Big Thunder Mountain. On the way we stopped by the Dumbo picture taking spot and the Pinocchio bathroom

Disney0053.jpg

As we came out to the Rivers of America, there was Woody and Jessie with, again, a very short line.

Backstory, on my 2nd trip to Disneyland in 8th grade, my friend Laurel went up behind Woody and tugged on his string. He turned around and stared at her with his big plastic smile as he placed his hand on his gun… We were so mad at her for getting us in trouble and we still yell at her sometimes about it. Yikes. So this picture was for Laurel:
Disney0054.jpg

We made our way out to Critter Country and watched a couple logs from Splash Mountain come screaming out the drop. Winnie The Pooh was a walk on. This was actually our first time on this ride.
Disney0055.jpg

Disney0056.jpg

It sure was trippy when the psychedelic colors came out with the mirrors…whoaaa.
Disney0057.jpg

Afterwards, this was too cute to pass up:
Disney0059.jpg

Disney0060.jpg

We were growing more and more ahead of schedule, so we just took our time getting around and enjoyed the slow pace.

Haunted Mansion was a walk-on right into the room outside the stretching room.
Disney0061.jpg

Pirates was also a very short line
Disney0062.jpg

Unfortunately, we had people in our boat who wouldn’t stop talking! It was about stuff completely unrelated to the ride too. It was some teenage boys trying to impress the girls they were with I’m sure, but they weren’t quiet about it. Damaged the atmosphere of the ride a little bit. Thankfully we were in the front row though, so we got to see everything perfectly.

Since we were so ahead on time, we went through Tarzan’s Treehouse even though we are both against it since I don’t see the reason for booting the Swiss Family Robinson. I love that bouncy bridge though! We jumped and hopped on it. I got some good air.
Disney0066.jpg

We waited in line for about 5 minutes for Jungle Cruise. At one point, the line splits in two but no one in front of us realized this, so we went into the empty line and passed by a good 15 people. We were the last two in our boat.
Disney0067.jpg

Our CM was cute but spoke too fast sometimes so a lot of us couldn’t understand certain jokes, which was too bad.

I had us down to pick up Fast Passes for Indiana Jones after this, but the ride was down so we didn’t get any. It was about 11:20 and our PS’s for lunch weren’t until 11:50 so we wandered over to Main Street, took some photo pass pictures in front of the balloons, and looked around the shops planning on what to buy later. Here is a picture that my mom took of me behind the celebration sign. We got some from the Photopass Photographer in front after this.
Disney0068.jpg

More of the cute flowers!
Disney0070.jpg

At 11:45am we decided to make our way to Carnation Café, and we were seated right away. We were along the fence towards the back of the seating area. It was quiet and breezy. Bob was our waiter and he was very friendly. We both ordered the half Turkey Sandwich on Pretzel Bread with the Loaded Baked Potato Soup.
Disney0072-1.jpg

Disney0073-1.jpg

This is just as good as everyone says it is. I tried to eat it slowly to savor it. Mmmm mmm mmm, we would have licked the bowls clean if it weren’t inappropriate. As we were finishing up Oscar came over! We gushed about our delicious meal, and he told us what a celebrity he was, naming the tv shows that he has been featured on. Too funny. My mom asked for a picture of the two of us. Don’t mind my awkward face.
Disney0074.jpg

He also came back with two signed copies of the recipe. My mom has since served the soup at a Hockey party and it was a big hit!

Next we get crazy in Toontown…

I love the pictures. I so want to eat some of the potato soup. I made reservations last time and I was to sick to go. Not this next trip. No way!

Really enjoying your pictures...... We didn't get to see Oscar at the Carnation Cafe when we were there.... :( that really would have been a bonus!!
Keep em coming!!

What a wonderful way to spend your 21st Birthday! Reading your TR, I found myself tearing up and telling myself to write down some of this down so when mine turn 21, I can celebrate like you guys!

Nothing beats a lemon berry slushie during summertime...unless it is during 1/2 price time lol.

I love how you and your mom are hopping and skipping thru Disneyland! :cool1: I can't wait to read and see more of this thread!

I LOVE your TR!!!!!!

I can't wait for more!

I'm going to show it to my Mom. It's been forever that I've been convincing her for us to take a mother daughter trip. I don't know what her dealio is. :confused3

Anywho, more more!

ETA: Oh wait! I see you're wearing the Alice Crocs? Did you like them? They look super cute!! I've been wanting them, they just look like they might rub? How did they work for you?

Meredith - I know we haven't gotten to this part of the TR yet, but I am curious to know if your new camera took good nighttime pictures. You did say this Canon is 10 mp, right? So I would assume the night pictures woud be decent.

After reading the Cnet Reviews you mentioned, I am about one click away from ordering this same Canon SD880 camera too, mainly because I need a new one for a few reasons and am terrible at making decisions. I want to just pick something and end the debate in my mind! So if I can find a 'real person' (like you) who has used the camera with success and can also address any disadvantages of the camera, then that pretty much seals the deal. I mean, yes, I would love to get a nifty Nikon DSLR but that is not practical nor in the budget at the moment. So in your experience using this Canon, in addition to the quality of the nighttime photos, are there any problems or drawbacks you have noticed? And what accessories did you get for it - a case? Neck strap? Any extra battery packs or a certain kind of memory card? Does it take several different brands of memory cards or only one kind?

Sooo sorrry that I have been so bad at updating. I'm working 6 days a week, and when I get home I just crash. I'll try to make a real update soon!

Oscar was cute. He seemed so happy to have worked at Disneyland for so long.

It was really special sharing this momentous occasion with my mom. It only brought us closer.

You have to go on a mother daughter trip! It was so special for both I don't know what took us so long to do this.

I am wearing Alice Crocs. I got them for work because I'm always on my feet. The arch support is good for normal day wear, though my feet were aching by the end of the trip. With socks, they are great and don't rub. If you aren't wearing socks and your feet get sweaty and slide around. the strap gets a little bit annoying. I didn't regret having them.

I unfortunately wasn't able to read the users' manual as much as I would have liked before my trip, so the nighttime photos were good but I know they could have been better if I had known more about how to use the camera in the dark.

I haven't noticed any drawbacks. I've always like Canons and have found them to be very user friendly. I love all the Scene modes, but it also works great in just Auto mode. The picture quality is very crisp and nice.

I got this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012S1OXG and a Lexar 1GB SD memory card. It takes any kind of SD memory card.

Meredith, I wanted to tell you that I ended up getting the same Canon you got, and yesterday I was trying to get into reading the User Manual. First of all, I have to figure out if I have the right version of Windows to support the software. It said it requires XP or Vista, and I have XP on my PC, but the Canon info says something about XP 'second version' or some such thing. I don't know if mine is the second version!! My friend loaded XP on this PC for me a few years ago so I have to ask her if the this version will support the Canon software! I love the look of the camera and how it fits in the palm of your hand. I love the big screen. But once I saw that there were 3 manuals in the box that I had to read, I was daunted. I mean, as it is, the User Manual is something like 130 pages or more. Then there are two more manuals to contend with after that! I couldn't even get through the first manual. Do you find that it is 'information overload'? I can see now why a lot of people don't get terrific photos with some point and shoot cameras. It is probably not the fault of the camera; it is the fact that no one wants to do that much reading, and even if you did, who would remember all of those features at the time you are using the camera? People just want to point and shoot and move on! That is a big reason or getting a P&S as opposed to a DSLR or something - because they are easy to use and figure out. That is one of the reasons I got a P&S rather than a DSLR (aside from cost). I am too impatient and don't have the time at the moment to really study all the nuances of the camera and take advantage of all it has to offer. It would be good if the Canon case I also bought for the camera had room to accommodate the User Manual - then I could just take it with me and whip it out when I wanted to look something up. But there is no room for the manual in the case.

So I am not sure how in depth I will get with the picture taking features at this stage of the game. Maybe in the future. But for now, I will literally just be pointing and shooting!

Merideth!!!

I just spent about 25 minutes reading your TR and you and your mom are sooo adorable and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your hair and glasses :) SO CUTE ! Oh & I thought it was so funny to read your pre-tr because I bought the same shirt at the Disney Store (the white mickey mouse one)! IT was too cute to pass up, but I'm soo jealous about your polkadot flip flops :) So adorable.

I know I'm so behind on this post and you're probably going to get a lot of the same remarks from me that you've gotten from everyone else, but I want my chance to gush at your TR!

How wonderful that your mom set up goodies for you on your birthday! I've heard of that bakery in Los Gatos, my co-worker keeps wanting to take me there! I took him to a new place in Santana Row in San Jose that just opened up, Kara's Cupcakes. It made me so envious. I so want a cupcake shop of my own!

Its so wonderful that you walked on to so many rides! Its really fantastic. Oh and I HATE it when teenagers go on rides and get all immersed in their drama at DL. People pay so much money to go there and they just ruin it by being obnoxious and rude. It really drives me nuts!

I can't wait to read more about your adventure in toontown!

Awesome trip report. When I go I have to booze it up at Uva and ESPN. Great pictures too, I love the pics of the drive down. Growing up in Fairfield, I know the I-5 very well. :thumbsup2
