i was looking over the menus at AK at allearsnet.com and i noticed that several places sell beer (which will make DH happy) and flame tree sells wine. are there any other options at CSs and kiosks there? i'm not much of a beer drinker. i love wine....just wondering if there's anything else?

Two words: "Dawa Bar". It is at the entrance of Africa and it is the best place for a quiet drink. It's also a great place to people watch as the main entertainment is either next to the bar or across the big pathway. I assume they have wine and I know they have beer, but I prefer the Harambe Cooler which is like a Mai Tai.

Amen! We were thrilled to find the Dawa Bar last March! They had awesome, fun fruity drinks. I agree that it was a find! We were able to catch an awesome acrobat show right next door, too, which we'd never have seen if we didn't stop for that drink! It's the place I'm most looking forward to going back to at AK!

Yep, I love that area. And yes, they sell wine, beer, and mixed drinks. It's an open aired place and you walk up to the bar for the drinks and take them back to your table. A word about the seating area, though. It's not restricted to patrons of the bar and a lot of families take a break here. Especially when the entertainment is going on. You can go behind the bar and there is another seating area (I think it's technically the Tusker House seating area). Much quieter and along the water.

One more thing on this and yes, this could be irrelevant to some.... the bartenders always asked to see both people who my DH was ordering for. If I was back at our table w/my boys, I had to stand up and wave to the guy. When I was down at Camp Minnie/Mickey waiting in line, the bartender wouldn't give my DH two drinks to take with him. They must see who they are serving, I guess! It's fine, but it's good to know.

The Dawa Bar is a god send. When I first saw it there in Africa I couldnt wait for it to open. I must have made my friends walk past it 5 times just so I could see if it was open yet and when it finally was, it was worth it.

I had the same thing happen... I was told by the bartender they had problems with people being "over served" :scared: and getting out of hand. I also experienced this at the pool bar at CBR & CSR!

The Dawa Bar, what a great place. We found it on our first trip, it was great to relax with a drink while DD watched the drummers and dancers.

Another vote for the Dawa Bar, it's our regular pit stop. Though finding a table at lunchtime can be a bit of a pain. I did notice some of the kiosks selling beer also, though I'm not sure about wine.

This is a Disney wide policy. One person, one drink. They flex it a bit if they can see the other person but that's about it. It's kind of a pain when both my husand and I want a drink but one of us is lagging and wants to sit down. I'd rather stand and wait with my husband than to see someone order ten beers and then take them back to questionable aged groups.

I had a guy at Rose and Crown try to convince the bartender I was his other adult. Uuh NO, if you want to "use me" as the adult give me the drink LOL!

Has anyone ever tried the Safari Amber beer? It sound like something I would like. Who makes it, I wonder?

The Safari Amber is very good Marna. I asked last time I was there, and I want to say Anheiser Busch. But it sure does not taste like an AB product. :drinking1 Oh great, now I am thirsty!

Many of the Kiosks in AK served Bud Light, to the delight of my brother-in-law. DH & I prefer dark beers &/or mixed drinks. Dawa Bar has a good selection of beer & great margarita's on the rocks!
