Hi,
Heading to Disney with my 3 kids, renting a minivan, and don't want to rent seats from the rental car company. My two youngest definitely need them and my 8 yo is small and I'll feel more comfortable with her being in one. They are the simple backless seats and I'm planning on packing them in my hockey duffle bag. Deltas site states
"In addition to the one bag carry-on allowance, passengers may bring the following infant items onto the plane as an additional free item:
Booster seat or other infant seat"

So I assume there will be no issue here. Anyone have any experience or suggestions. Thanks much.

I always bring the backless booster for DS when we fly. I gate check it too so I don't have to worry about finding a place to put it on the plane.

Assuming they are simple backlesses, you should be able to stow them overhead. If they are highbacks, I would pack the back well-padded in a suitcase and carry the bottom onboard. You probably already know this, but just in case, the kids cannot sit in their boosters on the plane. (A harnessed seat would be fine, though.)

The only trick I found with this is that booster seats need to be checked in the main ticket area to be free. We used the "express'" area in Detroit, and that wouldn't take boosters, so we carried on, then in Fort Lauderdale, we used curbside, and they couldn't take the booster there for "free" he said, but he did go in and check it inside for us for free.

We take our low back boosters on the plane w/ us and place them in the overhead bin. Sometimes the FA will point out to use that they can't be used on the plane but as long as we acknowledge that we know, everything is fine.

I would definitely bring them on board w/ you since then you are assured that they will arrive w/ you at your destination! :thumbsup2

Personally I would check them. What happens when the overhead bins are full? No place to put them.

We always gate check the stroller and regular check our car seats. We have never been charged. We have had better luck with the car seats than the stroller. We twice have had our gate checked stroller not make it on the plane...:confused3

Thanks folks for all the replies. I think I'm planning on putting the 3 backless boosters in a duffle and checking them in at the counter. We have a direct flight, no connections, and am not that concerned about them not getting to MCO. If I had connections, I'd check em at the gate. My main concern was whether they'd charge me to check the duffle. Thanks again!

Then you will be without it for a while. Is this a trick question?
Not a trick question. You don't see not having the booster seats as a problem?

As far as getting lost while gate checking... what I'm referring to is when you drop the item off with a pink tag plane side and you pick it up plane side when you deplane. While it doesn't eliminate the chances of being lost, I like the odds better than checking at the counter.
