Day Six - Saturday, November 10, 2001

First stop was Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Great character interaction again and good food, including the scrambled eggs. We bought the family photo and enjoyed the celebration. As we were leaving, Goofy was sitting in his chair in the greeting area, legs crossed, head back, napping and "snoring." DS and I were already in the lobby, but we learned from DD that Boo walked over to Goofy, tickled him on the leg and said, "Goofy, wake up." Goofy, of course, did the obligatory startled wake up. Boo has told everyone about how he woke up Goofy.

Monorail to MK, boat to Ft Wilderness for Boo's pony ride. Boo and I were going back to PO-R for nap/packing while DD & DS went on the horseback trail ride. Our journey took us on a transportation adventure. There was a bus stop just behind the petting zoo so I thought it would be much easier to take bus rather than walk back to boat. We learned, however, that these buses (Boone and Crockett) only went to Wilderness Lodge and to TTC (I should have taken notes from Nate's bus episode narratives). After getting to the TTC, we hopped the monorail to MK, then bus to PO-R. Fortunately each mode of transportation was virtually empty, so Boo, stroller and I didn't suffer too badly. Boo played in the playground for a while, then on to the room for nap. When the grown kids returned, they decided to nap also.

DS had a terrible headache and elected to stay in that evening, but would join us later if he could. DD, Boo and I took off for MK for dinner, shopping and Fantasy in the Sky.

Magic Kingdom was packed; it was difficult to move on Main Street. Dinner at Tony's was very good. We called DS on my cell phone. He was better and had walked to the bus stop, but realized he just couldn't make it. We promised to bring him my leftover spaghetti, but he was asleep when we finally got back to the room.

We had priority seating in the Rose Garden (another package perk) for Fantasy in the Sky and it was almost impossible to get up Main Street. But, boy was it worth it. We were able to sit down and Tinker Bell's wire was just over our heads. We watched the castle change colors, with Boo's commentary updates on each color change.

During the fireworks, DD commented on a distinct aroma, apparently emanating from the stroller occupant and we knew our next stop would be Baby Care Center. Maneuvering the stroller through the packed crowd was most difficult so DD suggested I pick up the boy and she folded and carried the stroller. Once I picked him up it was obvious an entire change of clothing was necessary and I remembered joedisney's accounts of the Octopus's many explosions. After I picked him up, Boo said, "Where we going Nana?" I responded, "To the Baby Care Center." "To clean my butt?" "Well, yes, exactly to do that." All week I had packed a change of clothes in his backpack - except for tonight. The weather was quite warm, so I sealed overalls in ziploc baggie and just left shirt, socks, shoes & diaper on the boy. We shopped down Main Street with time out to see some of SpectroMagic on our way out.

As we exited, I told Boo to say goodbye to Disney World, which he did with an added "see you next time."

We stopped in Fulton's General Store at PO-R for last minute gifts. As we came through the door, I overheard the woman behind me remind her husband they needed bottled water. I stopped, turned around and told her I was willing to give away water and even a cooler if she were interested. We had bought more than we used and there was no room left to take any of it home. Her family had just arrived from snowy Connecticut, were in our same building and gladly accepted. It was good to know these things would be used rather than just trashed. I added extra juice boxes for her boys and should have thrown in other snacks, but didn't think about them in time.

DD commented that when asked her most exciting time, her answer would be "watching my mother unpack and repack." Which I did; I was putting anyone's things in any nook or cranny available in any luggage piece. Amazing what we had bought on the last day.

Left 4:30 am wake up call, Bell Services request for 5:20 and then to bed.

Sounds like a great way to end your trip, well, maybe except for the whole visit to the Baby Care Center, but you know what I mean! ;) That was sweet of you to give your extras drinks to that family. :) They must have really appreciated it, what with Disney prices and all. Good job packing! We usually end up having to buy one of those large shopping bags to tote all of our souvenirs home. One year we actually purchased a tote bag to take stuff home!!
