Boom! New quarantine orders from NY, NJ & CT.

actually a great question for #2: why can't that be an option actually?
We may be able to. Maine already has this in place.

There is some question of test reliability and we are not sure how long it takes after infection for people to have enough virus for detectable levels. But two negative tests a day or two apart should be reasonably reliable.

I posted this in one of the many other threads on this subject - for NJ, at least, it looks like you can take the test and shorten the quarantine...

New Jerseyans may travel out of state, however if they travel to a state that matches the above criteria, they should quarantine for 14-days when they return. Testing is available to everyone in New Jersey and is strongly encouraged for those who travelled to areas heavily impacted by COVID-19. To find a testing site near you, visit covid19.nj.gov/testing

Individuals should self-quarantine until they receive their test results. If they test positive, they should self-isolate for 10 days and at least 3 days after any fever is resolved. If the individual needs medical care, they may leave self-quarantine to visit a healthcare provider.

....interesting. Thanks for the link.

It is my understanding that it extended through September. I have a friend that called the Health Department in Florida and the Governor's office before the extension to try to get clarity before he cancelled his July 11th trip. He ultimately decided the mandatory 14 day quarantine in NYS upon return was enough to finally cancel. DVC representative couldn't say 100% whether he and his family would be allowed to check into their DVC resort so that was another concern. I would absolutely do my own research before I made a trip involving flights and points and other potentially nonrefundable items.

Here's a link to the executive order, which isn't necessarily clear to me but has been read as extending the order for tristate travel through September 5, 2020.

... oh gosh! Would they really turn away guests that flew in from the NY/NJ/CT area??!?!?!

New York is now requiring travelers from 20 states (including returning New Yorkers) to register upon entry into NYS at the airports. Not sure what drivers are supposed to do? If travelers fail to register and follow protocols they face $2000 fine. I know if we go to WDW we must self-isolate for 14 days upon return home. State employees may not use sick leave if they travel to one of the 20 states and get infected with Covid-19. Strange days.

I can't imagine WDW would turn us away at the resort door, but who knows what will happen day to day? We got home from our Beach Club trip on March 14th and we don't intend to return until 2022, so this is all just eye rolling for me, not stress induced hair pulling!
