A thread to talk about reading, fave books, books you are currently reading, etc. My all- time favorite book series is the Winnie years by Lauren Myracle. I've read the series probably 5 times. Right now I'm reading this book, "Turtle in Paradise", and it's really interesting. It takes place in the summer of 1935, during the great depression. and this girl named Turtle's mother is a housekeeper and they move into this house with this lady who hates kids. So she moves down to Key West with this Aunt and cousins of hers that she's never met. So, what are you guys reading?

Good thread idea (:

I love reading. At the moment, I'm reading The Hunger Game books. I'm on the second one, Catching Fire. They are SO good.

Past favorites of mine are the Inkheart series (they have a movie of the first book) and Secrets of my Hollywood Life. I also like the Kingdom Keeper books. The Compound is also a reaaaally good book. Uhm... Fahrenheight 451 is pretty good. Hmm... I love Little Women. That's all I can think of, there's just so many good books out there though.

As you can tell by my title, I like the Kingdom Keepers series.. And the Steel Trapp series both by Ridley Pearson.

I have so many favorite books, I just can't find one I love the most. My favorite books are (I use abbreviations a lot, but I think you'll know) HP7, City of Bones, The Last Olympian (PJO), The Hunger Games and Alicia: My Story. I recently read the newest book by Rick Riordan, The Lost Hero, which is a new series connected to the Percy Jackson series. It was very good and very thick for a Rick Riordan book. I really liked it, but I hated the ending because I have to wait a year for the next book. Grrr... I'm currently (somewhat) reading Mockingjay, the third book in the Hunger Games series. I got a ton of books for Christmas, so I have much to read. I'll probably end up reading them this summer because of all the schoolwork I get. But I'm starting with Mockingjay since I've waited awhile to finally read it. :)

One of my favorites is The Outsiders by S.E Hinton. It's a really stunning and moving book. And I LOVE Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

some favourites are:

The Harry Potter series
The Phantom of The Opera
Anne of Green Gables
The Strange Case of Dr. Jeklyll and Mr. Hyde
A Tale of Two Cities
Hush

I love The Outsiders! One of the few books I was forced to read in school that I really enjoyed.

Haha, I was forced to read it too last year and fell in love with it. I wanna see the movie of it too.

I've already seen the movie :) Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Ralph Macchio, Diane Lane, Rob Lowe and C. Thomas Howell (big names) are all in it. They did a really good job and S.E. Hinton appears as a nurse in the movie. It was a nice job considering they changed the book into a movie.

I'm totally gonna try and see it one of these days.

I remember hearing about that book. I was thinking about reading it, but I'm not sure yet. I have so much to read already.

My favorites~
-Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
-The entire Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis (especially Silver Chair ♥♥)
-The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
-Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
-The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
-Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
-Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
-The Secret Garden
-To Kill a Mockingbird
-Ella Enchanted (HATE the movie, still. They destroyed my favorite book from 4th/5th grade.)
-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey

guilty pleasure teen novel favorites~
-Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson
-Top 8 by Katie Finn
-Dream Factory by Brad Barkley and Heather Hepler

the Hunger Games series is also very good.
-Coffeehouse Angel

I have too many favorite books to mention, but sadly I find myself without much time to read lately. :sad1: The book I'm in the middle of now though (with few signs that I'll finish soon enough) is called Enter Three Witches, which is a play on Shakespeare's Macbeth. Since I was just in a production of Macbeth, it is really fun to read the book and pick out all my friend's characters

I love To Kill a Mockingbird (by Harper Lee) too! I had to read it for my eleventh grade English class but I loved it so much that I read ahead of the class. So I just read it again, slower this time. ;)

I also love the novel A Town Like Alice (by Nevil Shute). The BEST LOVE STORY EVER!!! A true masterpiece that beats Twilight a million to one. I would much rather marry Joe Harmon than Edward Cullen! :lovestruc Other good old books are the usuals like Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre.
I understand those two books have to do with the ugly parts of the past but I'm a history lover so...

A few teen books to round it off:
- The Vampire Academy Series (by Richelle Mead) - Rose is definitely a heroine to look up to. And Dimitri isn't that bad...;) NO SPARKLING VAMPIRES ALLOWED!!!
- The Shiver Series (by Maggie Stiefvater) - Very sweet. If you like werewolves then this one is for you.
- Perfect Chemistry Series (by Simone Elkeles) - Sort of good girl, cheerleader meets bad boy, gang member. Modern version of West Side Story without the whole singing and dancing thing? I'd recommend it for more mature teens since some of the stuff in it is suggestion but very good!

Oh another one of my favorites is The Supernaturalist by Eoin Colfer. I think that's the name. I read it years ago and loved it! It was really interesting. I recommended to a friend who hated to read books and he loved it as well.

To kill a mockingbird.
Of Mice and Men is my absolute favorite classic.
Tom Sawyer
Tale of Two Cities
Frankenstein (amazing!)

I really love any Dan Brown and The Lost Symbol is my favorite book right now.
I also love The Book Thief.
Right now I'm reading a Doctor Who book and a book about Walt Disney's life.
In class we're getting ready to read Beowulf and we have started Something Wicked This Way Comes. It's pretty good.

My absolute fave series is HP....

but I also love these series:
HUNGER GAMES (hated the last book, especially the ending)
FALLEN SERIES
MAXIMUM RIDE SERIES
WITCH AND WIZARD SERIES
ALCHEMYST SERIES
and that is all that I can think of off the top of my head....

I LOVE ALICE IN WONDERLAND!!! I've read it about 75 times already. I know each chapter by heart. I'll read anything Suzanne Collins, R.L. Stine, Lisi Harrison, and Sara Shepard. :woohoo: LOOOVE HUNGER GAMES! EPS. THE LAST BOOK! BEST. ENDING. EVER.
