1.It cant be pulp fiction
2.I'd really like a book that has to do with the old days and has some romance...

I cant figure out any books to read for my ISU...

Suggestions?

Uprising by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

It's about 3 young adults in the 1910's and 2 of them work in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory and their story about the strike for better pay and ultimately a factory fire. It's a really good book but also a quick read.

Sounds like a good book!!

I remember there was this book on the list in class that I really wanted to read but I cant remember the name.

I know it was about this girl whose mother dies and she gets adopted into a family and she falls in love

Atonement by Ian McEwan

The Main character is a girl named Briony who is in love with the family's housekeeper, but the housekeeper is in love with Briony's older sister.
So Briony, who is a very imaginative young girl makes up a story about Robbie (i wont say what it is, dont want to ruin it, but he gets sent to jail)

THe rest of the story chronicals what happens to al the characters (with the main focus on Briony) She becomes an author, and when she finds out that she is dying she decides to publish one final novel with the whole TRUTH.

It's a really interesting novel, and it got made into a really great movie this year (starring Keira Knightley as Briony's older sister)
I HIGHLY recommend it!

I guess I should tell you though, there are some sexual things, and the use of a very bad word (used in a historical context mind you)
[the novel takes place in england in the 1930s]

Anyways, I dunno what your schools rules are on that type of subject matter.

TWILIGHT!

Just kidding. A little.

Well, there's To Kill a Mockingbird.

Really, I just wanted to post Twilight.

Sorry :D

The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Andrew McCall Smith. The story is based in modern times, set in Botswana and is about a woman running a detective agency and all that happens in her life. It's a series of fairly short books, but there are quite a few of them and they're fun, interesting, and defintely worth checking out. =)

I am in love with the Gemma Doyle Trilogy. It starts with "A Great And Terrible Beauty", then "Rebel Angels" and it ends with "The Sweet Far Thing".

It's set in Elizabethean England and it's got action, magic, peril, romance, and typical teenage worries.

Amazing series.

You could be boring and do Jane Eyre. Granted, you're pretty much guarrenteed to be more interesting and less whiney than the book...
