Booking with Disney Direct

Thanks to the people who suggested I wait for my Shareholder's Card, I got a great deal booking with Disney Direct for a room only deal. It was MUCH cheaper than Expedia.
I paid in full over the phone and the chap asked if I would like confirmation by post or by email and I said email. Any idea how long that will take to get through to me? I am not too worried as I have a booking reference number and I don't need tickets to travel as it is room only, but I guess before I go I would like something to print off and show that we have a booking.

I know, I know, I should have asked at the time but I was soooo excited about booking another trip that I didn't think.

Which reminds me.............. I'm so excited!

It took about two days for my confirmation to turn up.

It was an e-mail with a link to a .pdf document which you can then either view/print out or download/save. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open it but the link to the Adobe site is included on the link.

This allows us to speculate about Disney's office talents. Maybe they print out the documents, then hand it to the scanning department, and the CMs there send floppy disks back to the e-mail enabled staff, who need to find a CM of the right language to backcheck what was scanned and confirms the e-mailing then?

We're going in October half term - 21st - 25th.
Don't tell my daughter though - it's a secret! I thought it would be nice to tell her once school has been back about 4 weeks and everything seems a bit dull and flat.

Congratulations on your booking...it's great to get the discount. Last time it took a week for the email to arrive. I called several times afters..since they had said 2 days...I think in my case they had forgotten to send it!

If I may ask..which hotel are you going, and how much did they charge you ?

I booked with Disney direct in the afternoon and it was in my email by the next morning. The fellow I spoke to, (Lev) was wonderful & extremely helpful.

If I may ask..which hotel are you going, and how much did they charge you ?

We're staying 4 nights at Sequoia Lodge - never been there before - always been to Santa Fe, so that's exciting.
The charge for room only for 2 adults and 1 ten year old was £432. My 15 year old son has decided he is too old for Disney now.

Some firewalls( like mine) will block the email from Disney.
I never could get an e mail so I always ask for a letter.
The letter takes a day of 7 to arrive.

It is no problem if you have nothing on paper all you need is your conformation number.
Tell that to the CM at the hotel desk .That’s all.

Thanks Hildasmuriel for the info !! I'm sure you'll have a great time !! Maybe your son will decide a couple of days before you leave that he wants to go instead ! If he wanted to change his mind would you be able to book the plane too ? Teenagers are so "moody"...( weren't we all ..... )...that maybe after talking to his friends about him NOT going...they'll tell him he should not pass up an opportunity like that...and he will want to go !

I never thought of that. As we are driving through Eurotunnel this time I expect we could add him on at the last minute if he changes his mind.

I have booked DCR and my confirmation hadn't arrived after 7 days so I phoned again and they had my e-mail address incorrect! The new confirmation letter arrived the next day.
We are going April 2008 for 8 nights!! Yipee!!!
Plenty of time for planning now. What I do need is a good map as I'm hiring a car from CDG and want to plan and see the route before I get there.

Thank you for the links, it looks fairly straightforward on maps, i've never driven a car with sat nav. I have my 12 year old as navigator and I remember all the disney signs when we went by taxi from CDG in Feb. I am so excited already can't think what I will be like in 7 months time!!

OMG I hadn't thought about booking that yet! I guess I had better get those TESCO vouchers sorted and get booking. I was thinking I had loads of time - only 65 days!!!!!
