Curious if when people book using AAA or CAA to get discounts if they

1. Book it themselves through Disney?
or
2. If you do it yourself, are you asked for your AAA/CAA number or told to make sure that you have it when you arrive??

Any help would be great. :disrocks:

(I'm not sure if this is where this is supposed to go but I'm sure someone will move me if not :) )

We've done both.

When we did it ourselves, we were asked for our CAA number over the phone when booking. Then, at check-in, we had to present our CAA card for proof of membership.

On the otherhand, when we booked our entire trip through our CAA travel agent, we didn't need to show our CAA card at check-in. That said however, I highly recommend you bring your CAA card if you used it for booking discounts. Good luck!

Just curious. Besides Holiday season, is there anytime whereby you can't get a AAA rate?? Are there only so many available or is it never a problem? I don't want to buy, just to discover there isn't a discount available. Thanks!

I think there are only a certain number of CAA rooms available at a time. If you're flexible with your travel dates, I'm quite certain you'd be able to get the CAA discount (especially if you book in advance). I have called and asked for a CAA rate and been told that it was sold out for that particular time, but when I checked for a couple days later or earlier, we were able to get the discount. I've never tried booking during major holidays though. HTH!

This year I booked right when the CAA rates came out (end of of June for 2006). At the time, many hotels/dates were available with a CAA discount.
I little while ago I called to enquire about upgrading from a value to a deluxe for our last couple of nights (over marathon weekend) and not much much left for a standard deluxe room. I should have booked it back in June.
At time of booking I told them I was just checking on CAA rates and didn't have my membership yet. They said that was fine but to make sure I had my card with me at check in.

Thanks for all your replies so far, very helpful keep em coming. Another quick question. Wondering if I call Disney will they tell me if the have any discount for a date before I have to give them my CAA number or will they expect me to tell them that first?

If I am booking a room only, and KNOW I will be staying with a room only, I book myself, as it's easier.

If I want a package, or THINK I might want a package, I book through their agents.

You can't get a CAA/AAA package rate yourself, only through an agent.

If you don't like the AAA/CAA agent you work with, fire them and get another just like any other agency.
