Booking Two Studio Rooms??

My hubby and I are planning a vow renewal for our 5th anniversary in December 2009 and I am starting the planning now.

We are taking some friends with us who have a little girl. My original thought was to book a two bedroom villa so we all have our own space, but I have just been on the DVC members website and theortically (sp?) put in dates for December 2008 for two studios and this works out cheaper.

My question is really can I book two studios, one for hubby and I and one for my friend, her hubby and little girl? Can we also have the two rooms next to each other or is that pushing it?

Any help would be really good.

Thanks
Lisa

There is no reason why you can't book 2 studios, as long as there is availability. We did this in February when we went with friends for DH's 40th Birthday. There is no such thing as interconnecting studios, though, as a studio is connected to a 1-bed. It is possible to get 2 studios which will be next to or near each other, however MS will not guarantee this - it is a request only and, dependant on which resort you're considering, there is a chance you may not even be in the same building as your friends.

Thanks for that, its good to know it can be done.

I think as long as we are in the same resort, thats the main thing.

Hi there, we have done the same thing for our up-coming trip, as we are taking my sister with us, and we all need the privacy! We have also requested nearby rooms... will be interesting to see what we get!

we booked 3 studios last aug, when booking request them to be in same building and floor.like outhers said there are no studios next to one anouther but you will be close

I just want to be sure you understand that two studios doesn't give you the same space as a 2 bed villa. With the 2 bed, you and your husband could have a spacious master suite with a whirlpool bath and separate shower, your friends and their daughter would have a studio and, in addition, you would have a living and kitchen area between the two. I'm sure you realise that, but your comment that 2 studios is cheaper than a 2 bed has left me wondering. :)

Which resort are you planning to book? We stayed at SSR twelve-ish months ago. There was our DD, her DH and their toddler DS, and there was me and my DH. We booked a two bedroom unit (a one bedroom and a studio) with an interconnecting door (it's called a lock-off but you probably know that). There was loads of space and our little grandson thought it was great fun to come into our studio. However, the down-side is that it does work out considerably dearer in points than two studios.

I would recommend the two bed bed for the reasons Deb said plus you have the living area for the get togethers in the evening etc.

Last year we went with three sets of friends we had two bed and a studio (which was opposite). The great thing with the one bed was the space in the living area to have our drink nights before going out in the evening and afterwards.

We even had our kids birthday tea

Just can't say how lovely the whirlpool bath is. If you can go that bit extra you should go for it. Luckily we have enough points to take both our friends away with us.

Every night before we went to bed we all went into the living area and made Irish Coffees. Looking back it was one of the highlights of that holiday.:cloud9:

Whatever you do have an absolutely great time.

I just booked our second studio for next May using developer points. The reason we went for 2 studios is we are hoping to invite DFIL and DSMIL but due to health reasons he may not be able to make it, so cancelling one stuido is easier than cancelling a 2 bed then trying to rebook a studio.

Thanks everyone.

We have stayed in a one bed before which was fantastic, but its only myself and hubby so a studio is more than enough for us and with only 150 points a year we have to make sure we use them wisely.

I was basing the two beds on SSR and OKW, SSR is our home resort and would be 498 for two weeks for a 2 bed, whereas OKW is 450. Unfortunatley we wouldn't have enough points for SSR even if we put 3 use years worth of points together, so it would be a risk to take to wait til the 7 month window to see if we could get a 2 bed December 2009.

My thoughts on having a studio each would be that we would each have our own room and space and not have to worry about the other coming and going or going back for a nap during the afternoon and possibly disturbing them. Also on the upside if we had two studios instead it would leave us some points for our 2010 use year just incase we wanted another break later in the year.

So that is my thinking - am I mad :D

I think you're totally right to do it that way. Save your points! We also wanted to save points this trip, so we worked it that we have the last 2 nights in POP and paid cash... that way we don't have to break into next years points, but still got our longer vacation!

Just done both - booked a 2 bedroom at SS for the second week and paid cash for 2 studios for the first 5 nights in January.

Didn't have enough points for 12 nights in a 2 bedroom and couldn't get a cash rate for the first 5 nights in a 2 bedroom that I could have linked together, but got a fantastic annual pass rate for the studios.

Only problem is that we are taking my nephew (5) and neice (8) for their first visit as a Christmas present - am I mental or what
