I'm new to DVC and have a question. My husband and I want to take my mom to Disney using our DVC points and I would like to get two studios rather than a 1 or 2 bedroom. Is that a problem? Can both rooms be in my name? Thanks.

Yes, you can book two rooms for the same dates. You will need to have a different name as the primary guest on both reservations. Your name can be on both reservations, just not as the primary guest.

Yes you can get two rooms but you need to have different names as the lead person on each reservation. That would allow you to check in for both rooms if you will not be arriving at the same time. It would however be a problem if you want to use the DDP if your name is on both reservations.
For example you could do the following

you, DH
your mother, you
or
you, your mother
DH, you
or
your mother, you
DH, you

And studios never connect to each other. They only connect to a one bedroom villa to make a two bedroom lockoff villa. Or they might be dedicated which means they don't connect to anything.

They might not be close to each other when you actually arrive.

You might enjoy a 2BR lockoff, so you can let your mother have the studio part and you can enjoy the 1BR section. You will connect, but have your own individual spaces. It will cost you most points to do it this way, but you will have in-room laundry and a full kitchen. If neither of those matter to you, then go with the two studios, but you run the risk of them not being close together. (Not sure how much of a risk -- others can probably chime in on that.)
