Booking thru DCL, then TA?

I have read a couple of threads in which it seems that some of you book through DCL first, then transfer the reservation to your TA. Is this correct? If so, what are the reasons for doing this? Does the TA cancel and rebook for you? And do you get the same room? TIA.

I think the previous threads may refer to booking onboard the ship to obtain the ongoing promotional stateroom credit of as much as $200.00 for the future cruise booked, then transferring the reservation to the TA later....often, the TA's pricing is lower, and the cruiser can still retain the stateroom credit when transferred.....

Our last couple of cruises (not including the Member Cruise) we booked onboard to get the onboard booking room credit. Then when we got home we transferred to our TA (Dreams Unlimited). We get their current rebate, their great service and get to keep our current room. Works great for us.
