Booking through AAA????

I use AAA but them make my own dinner ressies through the 1800 number I haven't had any problems.

I don't know that I woudl join just to get a WDW discount, but there are many other thing that will make it worth the money if you take advantage of them.

I LOVE AAA, I think they are a bargain for what is offered. The towing is great just in itself, and we saved $60 on a car rental in January, we got a discount on the car parking near the airport too. I also go through there sometimes for flights and hotels - if they are the best priced.

Here's a question...I am working with a AAA agent and she has only been so-so. In your experiences, if a promo code comes out after you book, can that still be applied to an existing reservation? She is telling me no, but it sounds liek other people may have had luck doing this?

We booked through AAA for our trip last December. I booked about 9 months in advance & they discounted my package price twice before we left. I never called & asked - just got a new receipt in the mail saying XYZ promotion was applied. We really like our AAA rep. I have used her again for booking our trip this December & so far so good. I use the Charlotte, NC branch (AAA of the Carolinas).

I have never book a vacation with AAA, though I have used them for many other things. THe whole travel agency in gerneral concept is new for me. I have always booked our hotels and planned our trips before. I want a package so I know I need to go through AAA to get that discount.

Do they offer the same payment method as WDTG... Where you put the deposit down and have until 45 days before you go to pay it. Or is it all due when you book?

Well, my TA told me all the AAA rooms were gone and that I would have to book through AAA and it would be for the room only.
Well I then received a quote from AAA for rooms and tix and it was much better. I really like this TA but I have to go for the cheaper package. I wonder if I let the TA know how much I was quoted by AAA would she match that price???

I'm pretty sure that TA's can only offer you little bonuses for booking with them. They aren't able to discount the rate. If AAA quoted you a cheaper package, I would go with AAA. That $350 can pay for a lot of little extras! :rotfl:

If free dining comes out this fall (fingers crossed) just call your AAA agent and let them apply it to your package.

I paid up front, but I only booked about 2 1/2 months out. We did flights and hotel, tickets, dining plan etc. through AAA. I also inquired about tickets for Sea World and was rather surprised when the agent told me that she couldn't help me with that, that I would have to go into a branch to buy them. I have used AAA before and had really good luck for travel services. I guess that maybe it is hit or miss.

My AAA agent told us we can apply discounts if/when they come out but I'm not real sure she is the one looking for them or if I'll have to keep looking and call her.

I LOVE my AAA agent. I just email her and she does all the work. I use her for everything. Anytime I need a hotel anywhere I email her. All I have to do is type... If a deal comes out though, I have to be aware of it. I could continue to email her to see if something changes but its my responsibility. She is way to busy to keep checking. But she'll do anything for me. Get to know one and keep in touch. She/He will work well for you. :goodvibes

I think if you add a code it changes your reservation..meaning you can only use the best deal. So if something better comes you will change the whole reservation to get the new cold and all old discounts are void. I'm sure someone else can tell you better, but this is what was told to me.

Yes I beleive so. I booked less than 45 days ahead, so we had to pay in full, but she did say we didn't have to till the 45 day mark, but since we were past it they needed it in full.

I received a quote from a TA and also from AAA. The AAA quote was better by almost $350. My question is this...the TA would do things like make reservations for us and check into discounts along the way, does AAA do the same? I could ask them but I would like an honest answer from someone that has booked and traveled with AAA before.

Thanks:surfweb: :scared1:

AAA usually assigns you one of their own TA. You can usually email them to make your PS and other reservations. We did it and it was good :]

All right ~! I called a AAA TA that was recommende to my by a Diser. Her price didn't seem to add up correctly though. I priced it out myself separately first.

1 adult, three kids (17,10,7)
5 nights, Pop Century
room only w/AAA discount $369
10 day hoppers, non-expiring from Disney $1705 (including tax)
total $2074

AAA quote
5 nights Pop Century package (no dining)w/10 day hoppers, non-expiring
$2217.75

She told me the AAA discount was only on the room portion of the package (which I already knew) but the tickets were $1848. Why so much higher than through Disney directly?? She told me that if I found a better deal elsewhere I should take it :confused3

The only reason I wanted a AAA package quote was in hopes of adding free dining should it be offered this year.

Has anyone here priced these out both ways and had a better price with the package? I though they would come out the same in he end, with the package only being better because of being able to add dining if I want later (free or not)

If a discount comes out from WDW your AAA TA can find out if it will be cheaper than your current AAA discount. The thing is that you can't have BOTH a WDW discount and AAA discount at the same time. Your TA should be willing to swap one for the other. I had recent experience with this, saving over $400 because my AAA discount was dropped for the new May discount. If your TA is not willing to do this, (at least finding out if the other would be cheaper) then find another AAA TA. People on the board have good recommendations of strong AAA TAs.

AAA sells the tickets at the same price as Disney, so I don't know why your TA quoted you higher. I would call another agent and check again. Maybe she added waterparks, too? :confused3 I know my trip saved me $275 by using AAA. My agent answers all my questions, has changed my hotels, and made my ADRs. She even called me a few days before my 180 day mark to get me to email her my list! I doubt I'll ever book another big trip without her!

Yeah, I think one of you added wrong, or perhaps she did ad waterpark. I was under the impression AAA gave a discount off a whole package, where Disney only did off a room? Maybe i'm wrong.

We also priced thru disney & then went to our local AAA Ta & it was a couple of hundred dollars less thru AAA.

she also has applied discount codes for us if they come out.

I double checked my prices today after I spoke with her and I had the prices right....$369 for room and $1705 for tickets. I wonder if she added water park option to the tickets?? I am going to call her back tomorrow to see.

If you go through Disney directly, you can only get room only AAA discount....you can't book a package with the AAA discount.

If you go through AAA, you can book a package with the AAA discount, but the discount is really only discounting the room portion of the package. The ticket prices are basically the same. Therefore the prices should add up the same either way, with the only advantage being you can add dining to the package and still keep the AAA discount. If I book the package through Disney, I lose the AAA discount.
