booking rooms for 2 groups - different size parties

Is it possible to be a family of 4 and to have joining rooms with a family of 5 at Port Orleans Riverside? The family of friends that are going with us in August 2016 would like us to be near them. I know its not a guaranty to get joining rooms but I want to know if it is even possible with this combination. I don't mind paying a little bit extra to stay there. We were going to stay at AOA in the suits but Port Orleans is so much cheaper for both families.

Sure, it is possible. If you really want to up your odds, book preferred rooms. That way they have to put you in a small section of the bayou part of the resort, upping your odds of being close.
