Booking Packages

Never booked a package before. The way I understand it, they are only allowing packages to be booked today. Next year, my whole family was planning on going and would need 3 rooms in total. My parents would be in one room and would need tickets, my brother and his wife in another room will need tickets and my family will just need a room as we have active APs that will be valid for the timeframe we are looking at in 2021.

So.... If they are not taking room only bookings now, my big question is, are you able to book a package for a group that some do and some do not need tickets? As in could I book 3 packages and organize our party information so that each room has at least one person who needs a package and just add an extra person who has an AP that doesn't need tickets to the room?

Also, can you change your package reservation to a room only down the road if they release room only? I would guess they have to cancel the package reservation number and give you a whole new reservation number for the room only. You would think they could keep the room locked while they made that change right?

Everyone in the same room must have the same package features, so you wouldn't be able to put some people in a room who need tickets and some who don't (unless you did all room-only reservations and purchased your tickets separately). As an aside, it's really unclear exactly what we'll be able to do today. This year, due to the unusual circumstances, Disney allowed guests to book basic packages for next year without tickets (kind of like a placeholder). The vast majority of these guests were people who were rescheduling trips from the shutdown. Today, TA's and guests can call and add tickets to these packages so they can make their park reservations. It is unclear at this time if new packages will be able to be booked today (some correspondence and CMs said "yes", some said "no"). Officially, the only thing we've heard is that 2021 bookings will be available for everyone "by June 28". In addition, it is possible that 2021 room-only reservations will be available for booking sometime this week too.

Thanks. Was thinking that was the case about everyone in the room has to have same package. Similar to to the way dining plans were.

Oh well, guess it’s going to be Groundhog Day again. Was on hold for 8.5 hrs on Monday getting everything taken care of for this years’ trips. I feel very fortunate I wasn’t on hold for two days in a row like some on here had to endure.

Thanks for the quick reply! Hope someone reports quick today if room only is a go or not.

“Right down the middle of Main Street of UUUU SSSS AAAA”... Try getting that out of your head after hours of listening to it.

If I get through, I'll ask. I've been obsessively refreshing my TA page this morning too to see if 2021 is open online. It isn't :(. Rumor is no online today, which is a bummer because it would make everything SO much easier lol.

Sounds like packages will be available at 8am today. Not sure about room-only.

I’ve tried calling since exactly 7:00 AM, and it just gives me a busy signal 🤷‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

EDIT: Should have read your previous post better.

No worries! I just got through to a human. She said 2021 packages will be available hopefully between 8-10am. I asked if they would be available online today or just over the phone. She didn't know. I asked if this would just be packages or would room-only be available as well. She didn't know. Sorry...not much more info that before :(.

Oh boy... Sounds like Mondays responses again. These poor CMs seem to be left in the dark quite a bit. Disney could help themselves quite a bit if they were to communicate better. If they released some more details to the general public in advance it could help cut down on their call volume.

The autoplay message when you get through now says that 2021 bookings won't be available until 8 A.M. I wish that would have been playing last night.

How did you even get through? I kept re-calling, and every time, it would go to a busy signal.

Question.. Sorry if this has been asked . If I book a reservation , room and tickets, for next Oct. and Disney still has not changed their rules (mask, no park hoppers, ect.) will we still be able to cancel room with tickets? I do know we need to cancel X amount of days before check in ..But if we add tickets to room will they let me cancel everything. I do know that " room only" I can cancel with in the time period just was unclear about adding tickets to the room. We always book room only in the past but it sounds like to me (and maybe I am wrong) I need to make park reservation when I book a room to reserve a spot into the parks. We have been to Disney 30 plus times this is not our first rodeo, but let my tell you this is not fun! Half of me says forget it and vacation elsewhere. I miss the "old" Disney!!!
