I'm running in my first Half :goodvibes in January and DH is running the Goofy. I called and priced out the package options for our stay both through RunDisney and the Disney Vacation line. The RunDisney is currently discounted cheaper than booking through the standard reservations line but they told me at RD that if any package discounts become available I can not modify my reservation. Those of you who have done this or seen the typical Marathon weekend discounts, what is the better way to go? We only want tickets and rooms, no dining of that helps.

Thanks in advance!

I have always heard that general public discounts are going to be better than any runDisney discounts. For marathon weekend 2013, they were pretty good - I believe 35% off deluxe, 25-30% off moderate, 15-20% off value.

Interesting. I asked RunDisney the same question about whether I'd be able to modify my reservations if a good discount came up, and they told me it would be no problem.

:confused3

Guess I'll find out later this summer if a discount gets announced...

You will not be able to modify the existing runDisney reservation -- at least that has been my experience. However, you can cancel and re-book with the new discount. The only issue with this is that they cannot transfer the deposit to the new reservaton -- they will refund the cancelled ressie's deposit and you will have to pay the new one. But to answer your original question, I have found that the general public discounts are better than runDisney's. I usually book a normal reservation and then have whatever discount comes up applied when its released. That way I don't have to wait on a refund of the original deposit.

Any idea when we will be able to book room only or vacction package for marathon week? Also not through RunDisney. Currently website is only accepting ressie's through 12-31-13
Thanks

Can you still book a package through the Run Disney website? I've been playing around with it and it always says nothing is available in any room category.

I already have a room-only reservation, but it's a slow day at work and I wanted to compare prices between RD, regular Disney Packages, and room-only + tickets from UT.
