Is there a difference between booking from WDW's website vs. calling Disney directly? The prices are the same so is there an advantage of booking online vs calling?

I do all my research online but prefer to book via phone. I like speaking with the CM because most of the time they are as excited as I am to be booking a trip. And I like to add my room requests when I book so I don't have to call back to add them.

But there is no difference between the 2 methods.

thanks dansdad. I called and she was super helpful and patient so I think I'll book through her instead of online.

Similar. I usually tweak things so find it easier to talk thru the whole thing with a CM. This upcoming trip we'll be in 3 separate resorts - no way I could have done that online.

I like to do everything online. It takes forever to speak to someone over the phone and I like to figure it all out and book it myself. If I have requests, I call after I have everything booked.

I prefer online. Don't like the long distance charges. You'd think Disney could manage a toll free number.

^^ That's how I do it and for all the same reasons.

I've called the couple of times I've booked myself. CMs have been good and if I see something online and they don't show it they will look and if they aren't showing it they have been quick to suggest that I do it online. I've also been lucky-I've never waited more than 10 minutes to be connected to a CM, even during Christmas time. I also like being able to add my room requests at the time so I save myself a call later.

I have never booked online, can you pay a room deposit with gift cards online?

I do the same as dansdad, but have ran into a couple of times where I got a better deal when I called in. Happens rarely, out of 30+ trips, this has happened twice. The best one coming, was when I called to book ASMU (which I had priced online)and the CM said that they had a special at CSR for the same price:yay: I asked why I did not see this online and he said occasionally some rooms come available and they will just tell the call takers about the deal.
I have also booked a room online that the CM I was talking to(at the same time) said was not available. So go figure:laughing:

if i have nothing off the wall crazy ill book online. but if its something strange ill call. i also call back for room requests at a time that is normally not a long wait to talk to someone.

What are long distance charges??? :) Just get a VOIP device like OOMA and run your phone line off of your internet connection and you will never pay long distance again.

I call to apply to codes/discounts. It's been my experience that the time spent on the phone has actually decreased over the past several years. The last time I called (before the military discount was out), I did not book at that time. The rep gave me his direct dial number to call him back. I told him no one had ever done that before, and he said it was something new they were doing.

This is what I do as well. I book just about everything else online, but for Disney, I call to book as I enjoy speaking to a CM.
