Booking one night to activate Magic Bands

I am trying to decide. I have 5 free nights at the dolphin and a room at POR currently booked. I would rather stay for free (of course) but I want to be able to have our fast passes booked in advance. When I called the CM said that as long as we stayed one night at Disney property the FP+ would work on the bands for the duration of our tickets. Has anyone tried this? It may be worth it for me to book the POR for one night if I can do this.

Rumors are that offsite guests will soon be able to schedule their fp+'s ahead of time. Testing with offsite guests has already begun. Supposedly, this is supposed to become available for everyone by summer. It only makes sense that Disney would enable offsite guests to preschedule their fp+'s.

Yes I have done it. One night at ASMo and then 6 offsite. They activated the bands at checkin and they worked the whole trip. I was able to book in advance. As long as the onsite is before your other hotel you will be fine.

This is exactly what I'm planning to do. I've booked our first night at AofA family suite and the rest of our nights (10) will be offsite. I'm so glad to hear your bands worked for advanced FP+ booking the entire trip!
