I just wanted to know, if I book onboard for my next cruise can I later 1- add a person,2-change an itinerary,(if a special cruise comes out) 3- upgrade (or downgrade) my stateroom. I know that I can change a date, but I don't know the rest...

Yes, you can do all of those things. When were on board two weeks ago we rebooked, but just listed my husband and I for now. We will call and add the kids next month. This way we didn't have to pay the deposit for everyone all at once.

The last time we sailed we rebooked on board and then called two months later to change the dates. When we rebooked on board, the month we wanted hadn't yet been posted to the reservations system, so we just booked as far out as they had and then called to change it later.

Just be careful about adding kids later .... if they get too many of a certain age they told us they won't accept any more kids. I don't know how often that happens (if at all) or what the limits are, but you should ask.

Good to know! Thanks! So if I book as far out as I can and only pay for me and DH deposit, I can add DD later, and possibly get a higher category too? Want to have a 1 or 2 someday;)

Sorry to tag onto your post, but another question. Generally, how far out can you book in advance? I'm pretty sure we won't go on another cruise for at least two years.

As long as dates are released you can book them(2006 are not released yet), but you could book and then transfer to that date once the dates you want are released.

Bob - yes you can book just the two of you and add people on later, but as said before make sure there is room for the kids and yes if the cabin is available upgrade, but 1's and 2's book years in advance so do it quickly when they open up.

Another idea for you to think about. You can reserve rooms for others as well. When we booked onboard last year we thought of booking additional rooms for other family members to take advantage of the discount and stateroom credit. The woman doing the rebooking advised us to put me down as lead on room 1 and my wife down as lead on room 2, this way we could change the other members in the room and keep the discounts. If the lead person changes then you forfeit all the discounts...Mark

All of the above is true...but be very careful about deciding to add kids later. DCL limits the number of children in each age group, so that even if you are in a 4 person cabin with only 2 people, there may not be room in the age group you are trying to add into. Add the kids as soon as you can to assure them a spot.

Adding an adult is not a problem!...you might do better to book on board with an adult and one kid, then add the second adult later.
