Booking Multiple Rooms for Extended Family

We rent 3 rooms every November. Because we have a variety of ages we have found Wilderness Lodge to be a great choice for us. The strollers easily go on the watercraft to MK and having interior rooms and a central lobby is a plus. I call the central reservations number and at the time of booking request that we have adjoining rooms with the 3rd room being as close as possible. We have always been able to get the rooms close together and most of the time have been able to get adjoining rooms - I also call about a week ahead of time to confirm those requests. We all drive so we really don't use the buses since the transport to MK is via water and the rest of the parks are easily accessed by car with parking included in your hotel cost.

I would call

I agree with this. I would also go online just to price out the rooms you are interested in so you have an idea of pricing when you get on the phone with the CM. I would also make sure you know what promotions may be running (free dining or room-only) during your travel period to see if they can be applied to the rooms you are interested in. Make sure to tell the CM you are extended family and are traveling together. The CM can then link the reservations. If you have any special requests - (connecting rooms - meaning interior doors that can be opened so you can walk back and forth between rooms OR adjoining room - meaning rooms near each other but not necessarily connecting), I would ask them to note that on all reservations when you book.

Just so you're aware, with any hotel reservation (not just WDW), adjoining simply means next to or near each other, i.e. your request for the third room. Connecting rooms - what you apparently want - are only next to each other, with an interior set of doors allowing access to both rooms without going into the hall.

With the exception of FW cabins, and DVC bungalows, all WDW rooms adjoining other rooms. Not all connect.

I used a UOC to book two rooms for my family last year. I called and booked the rooms, paid the deposit on both rooms, and gave the cast member who booked the rooms the name of the person responsible for the second room. I was emailed a confirmation for both rooms, and each room had the appropriate name attached (my name for my room, my sister's name for hers). She was able to use the confirmation number attached to her room to connect the res to her MDE account. After that, she was able to attach her own payment info (online) to the room so that her card was charged for the balance the day of check in. She was able to made ADRs, add a additional guest to her room when more of her college aged kids were able to come than we originally thought, and add magical express info when flights were arranged. It was pretty simple, especially since we'd traveled together before (linked as 'friends' or whatever they call it in MDE), and they found her name/email easily when I was making the res.

The only hassle (and it wasn't for us), was my having to pay the deposit for her room. The CM booking us via phone would have been able to charge the deposit for her room to her credit card had I had that info, but I just paid. My sister sent me a check (she could see the exact amount I'd put down once she linked the res to her MDE account), and all was good.

It's really easy to call in a reservation for 3 room...I have already done that for my 2018 visit. You can put all rooms on your credit card or if you have the others' cc info, you can apply their cc to each room. The reservations are linked and our request for two connecting and the third nearby has been noted...but of course not guaranteed. No need to use a travel agent unless you want to.
