Booking multiple hotels for one trip?

Hi guys,

I'm looking to book next year's trip in the next few weeks/months but need a bit of advise first.

I want to stay on site at Disney for approx. 9 days of the trip (first time staying on site, woooo!), and the first few days/last few days stay off site (thinking IDrive for budget purposes).
Has anyone got any experience in booking multiple hotels for their trips? Any advise? Can I do this as a package or will I need to book it all separately? Will it work out more expensive doing it this way?

Thanks guys...my head is reeling!

You may be able to do it as a package, but any travel agent will probably charge you through the nose for it.
It's easy to do it yourselves. Just make two separate bookings. I've done split stays many times, I even did three hotels in one week a few years ago!

Personally, I'd book each item separately. Book flights first, then fit hotels around those dates. You can do all this via a travel agent but, in my experience, it almost always works out more expensive that way.

As for park tickets, I would NEVER advise buying from a travel agent!! With a little bit of pre-planning, you should be able to work out how many days you'd like to spend in each park (Disney, Universal, Seaworld etc) and then buy accordingly, either from a UK ticket agent (tickets posted to you) or a US one (tickets either collected in person on arrival or, for a small fee they will usually deliver to your hotel :)

I love putting together a WDW holiday, and have done so myself for our last 10 holidays!! If you need any further help or advise, feel free to PM me, & I'd be only too happy to help.....it's kinda become a bit of a hobby for me :)

Happy planning!!

Edited to add: I'm off out there again myself in 5 weeks time....4 different hotels....3 weeks....and also going solo for the first time ever!!

You will be better doing it yourself as Karen says.

One thing to remember if you want to get the free dining offer and use your Disney tickets during your offsite stay then you need to book the Disney portion first (actually that applies if you book room & tickets together regardless of free dining).

Most definitely do it your self, TA are usually more expensive just staying in one hotel let alone booking you into different hotels, you can pick up some great offers on-line.
We always stay in multiple hotels, think the minimum is 2 we've done (always move as we book random amount of days out there) and prob a max of 4 in an Orlando hol.

Another for DIY!

We just did HRH and YC, I booked YC through WDTC to get FD but HRH was booked through a third party website as it was much cheaper than booking direct (or through a TA, I suspect). We also booked flights separately through VA. Had we done a package through VH, the cost would have been 50% more!!

Thanks guys! :thumbsup2

Does anyone know when the free dining offer ends? Ideally I'd like to book before then so it's there and I won't have to worry about that. But as I want to go at the beginning of October, I won't be able to book flights until November, is that right?

I've had a quote come back for less expensive than I was expecting through travelplanners.co.uk so I'm a little tempted to book it...

Yes flights released exactly 11 months in advance

On our up coming trip I have booked 4 different hotels and got the best rates I could. We looked at TAs but it was all coming up way more as they were not able to give the discounts that I was able to get.
Park tickets we booked via Disney as we wanted the 9 day ones they were offering ( not sure if that is still an option)
Overall I tend to book my trips DIY apart from city breaks as a package for them tends to be the cheapest,

Thanks guys! :thumbsup2

The book by date is 21 October 2014 for the free dining & gift card offer currently on with WDTC.

Flights are 11 months from return date :thumbsup2
