Booking More than One DVC Unit at the same Time

Just a quick question -- If I'm planning to book three 1BR units for the same vacation using my points, do I need to book each separately? I don't see any way I can do it all at once online. Would it be better to try to book by calling? (I really prefer online, LOL.) (This seems simple, but I want to be sure. Hoping to get all three of these for my son's wedding next year.)

Unfortunately, you have to book each one separately. You can save time by filling in only the primary guest name and letting it default to your address and email. Then after all 3 are booked it’s easy to go back and fill in other guests, change addresses, etc. Waiting for MS means waiting an hour after everyone else who books online, and I believe that MS can only book one at a time too.

The solution is to walk it. Put them all in different names, even fictional names. You will confuse IT if they are all in your name.

If you are trying for a very busy time, then begin booking a few days before to secure one and log in the next day to book the second one, etc

I do that when I want multiple rooms starting same day. I also just keep in my name when booking and adjust later.

I've booked multiple rooms several times at 11 months, and made them all with my name as primary at the time of booking. But at some point prior to the reservations (at least a week or 2 before), you need to identify a unique primary person for each of the reservations. You can't have the same person on multiple reservations at the same time at WDW - MDE doesn't handle it well. And yes - each reservation needs to be made separately, but you can certainly do it yourself online without the need to call MS. Good luck with your bookings - hope it all comes together!

Thanks, everyone! Looks like I'll just have to move quickly. LOL Now waiting for 11 month window AND hoping BWV refurb doesn't screw things up.
If you are talking about reserving at 11-months out three 1BRs at a WDW resort that has 1BRs for any reservation time between March 1 and Sep 25, 2024, then, other than possibly for AKV value, AKV club level, and BLT standard view 1BRs, your chances of success of getting three 1BRs if you do the reservations separately in order, should be about 100%. And that includes BWV 1BRs since March 1, 2024 is the date when the standard view shut-down ends, and, in past years, before the shut-downs created at BWV for boardwalk view in the fall 2023 and standard view in Jan and Feb 2024, all BWV 1BRs, including standard view, were still open for at least a day after the 11-month window opened for any dates during that March to Sep time.

I put things in my name for same dates all the time and have never had an issue…

Not saying something can’t happen but in my experience, it’s rare.
That's interesting as I have been told many times, that I can't book with me as the lead except on one room.

You can’t be lead guest in two rooms when it comes time to travel as you can’t be checked in for a stay to more than one room.

But, when booking the rooms, it has not mattered. I just change the guests later on when I know who is going.

For example, I have multiple rooms booked in my name for my December trip.

One thing to remember: Don't link resort stays to guests until your reservation(s) have the correct guests associated with them. For some reason the system can't handle name changes well, and you have to call MS to unlink previously linked guests.

Oh ok, gotcha. Thanks.

That's good to know! We've been members for forever, but I've never dealt with booking multiple rooms before. And then the shut-downs started popping up, and I started to worry. We've all staying at BWV, and it will be great if we can get what we need.

Adding, it can often be a factor of how you make the reservations. If, for example, you do two reservations online for same time period with your name as lead on both, you will be fine; I have done that many times and then about five months out when I finally know who is going to be in the rooms besides me, I call and make the change for lead in one of the rooms and add the other guests who are going via online additions. I also wait until then to add the reservations to my MDE account.

If instead you call to make the reservations, there is a good chance that whomever you are speaking to will not let you do two reservations in your own name for the same time period. Moreover, in the past there have been some reports where a member made two reservations in his own name using the online system, and then later called MS concerning the reservations, such as to make location requests, and MS, without telling the caller they were going to do it, eliminated one of the reservations. In other words, consider the fact that MS personnel do not always know what one can do with reservations, and thus you should consider avoiding direct contact with MS concerning the double reservations made online until you are ready to change the lead on one of them.

I book a lot of stuff just in my name when I shuffling things or have a rooms at different hotels, depending on what pops up. Maybe I have three different resorts booked for one night.

OP is booking multiple rooms, same dates, same category, same resort. I would do this in different names, because I do not trust Disney IT.

Taking the time to even change the name for hard to get bookings right at 11 months is not needed, because one can then go in minutes after everything is done and have the actual guests changed. And, wait to go on chat at 9 am to adjust lead guest.

As I said, I have multiple rooms in my name at the same resorts for same dates booked all the time. I adjust when I know.

I agree you don't have to do it exactly when you book, but I wouldn't leave it there.

I once had my husband booking at the same time I was booking. Back in 2013. We were able to procure many boardwalk standard studios at the same time for a "wedding" party. I think we booked 7 rooms for a weekend in January. It was awesome....
