Hi
I am trying to book a trip last minute for the time around Dec 10 -15th
I wanted to go to the campground, but that seems to be booked up. So I have been trying to see what else was available. It seems that the WDW website shows most everything as booked. (no availablity) Even the villas, which I can't afford anyway. Is this for real, or one of those times where they haven't released all of the rooms for some odd reason. There are some at Saratogo Springs and the Poly but $400 a night!!!
Does anyone know something about this?

There have been quite a few promotions by Disney that has the occupancy very high at their hotels. However, offsite from what I have seen is readily available. That's why the week you are trying to book still has historically low crowds. Onsite may be full but offsite is a graveyard. Keep trying, you may get a cancellation. I'm already booked at FW for then.:thumbsup2

If this helps I just went in the WDW website under "Special Offers" and found this $59 rate for Dec 10-15 for room only:

(Mod POR is $96) Need to add tax to all. You might want to call for res and tell them these were on the website under the code FSC deal.

The Swan & Dolphin also show some good online rates starting at $137.

Good luck! :cutie:

Have you tried looking at other websites like expedia, orbitz, travelocity? Otherwise if you really want to stay onsite you can check with some travel agents they may have rooms set aside.

Those were the same dates we were going and finally gave up - but today did see the same availability that Seahunt posted - and also Port Orleans Riverside for $96 plus tx.

For a couple of weeks there was absolutely nothing.

Good luck!
(ps oops - just noticed Seahunt also mentioned POR)

Oh boy, I'm sure sorry the days are gone when we could pull the kids out of school and take advantage of these great rates :sad2:

We are paying over $400 a night at AKL over Christmas with only a pool view, not even savannah - oh well, I think this trip will our last.

If you have any flexibility, play with the dates by a couple of days. I had the hardest time when I wanted to arrive on the 12th (it finally became available), but starting the 13th, I had my choice of where to stay.

I think because of the promotions and Pop Warner, it is limited up until the 12th.

If you know that you want to return to WDW frequently, have you thought about DVC? In about 4 trips it PAID for itself for us. We go every year now whenever we want and book 1 or 2 bedroom villas and stay in acccomodations that far exceed staying in a studio or regular room. :thumbsup2

:scared1:Pop Warner! I haven't been at the same time as this in a while,
But I do remember:headache:
Didn't they close MGM/Hollywood Studios for them... We are only going to be in the parks for 2 days. One at Hollywood, for the Lights, and One at Magic Kingdom. Anything that I need to know...
That is "IF" I get reservations.

Thanks Seahunt going to look for this now!!

Wow, Something must be up. I pulled up that special had the POR offer onscreen. By the time I talked to DH & my friends that were going to travel with us, the rooms were gone.
:sad1:
I was so excited POR is the kids favorite next to AKL
Oh, well
I'll try again later... wish me luck:wizard:

I was just thinking at what age do I need to stop pulling my kid out of school and going to DW. He is 7 now and in 2nd grade. We were originally leaving DEC 16th - 20 but I just found out I can add one more day for $100 including dining for both of us. So this means he would only go to school on Monday the 15th! Not sure how much he would miss school wise. I know after the 16th he does not do much in school. I also know next year. I won't be able to do this. 3rd grade is a much tougher year. As it is I am just calling him in sick the days we will be missing so it does not count against him. I feel guilty adding one more day to my already growing lie! :confused3

I would check the actual school policy regarding such absences. Many school districts allow for days off for a family vacation if it can't be taken any other time. It may count against him as absences, but in the third grade, will that really affect his pass/fail or grade? So you'll be having him explain that he was sick? You know, 8yr olds (I have one) are really bad liars. :)

Have a magical time!

By the time he goes back to school Jan 5th he will have no clue. I would never tell him I called him in sick! I would just wake him up and take him to the airport and call the school voice mail and say he was sick! That would be a mom only lie! I believe that they can only be absent for family events such as weddings, funerals etc. I know they frown upon your taking your child out of school for holidays. He would have 4 unexcused absenses basically. But as I said he is in 2nd grade. I just checked the policy and family holiday is not excused!

It is important that all students are in school every day. Parents are reminded to closely monitor their child’s school attendance. Remember students may only be legitimately absent for the following reasons only:

Student illness
Death in the immediate family
Religious holiday
Family emergency
Circumstances causing reasonable concern to the parent for the student’s health or safety, or
Other situations beyond the control of the student, as determined by the principal.

Sorry Tab2Disney - looks like someone hijacked your thread :rotfl: - let's see if we can't bring it back to where it started!

They will still close DHS for the Pop Warner party - I think they are doing that on the 9th - I read it somewhere on here and it looks like DHS will close at 7 pm that night.

I also think they are staying at POR - you may want to reconsider that option ...

I don't recommend calling him in sick..With the Swine Flu going around, you are going to get alot of questions, and schools have been reporting into the health department the abscences.Besides that I don't think you are giving enough credit to your 8 yr old son.My 5 yr old remembers things MONTHS after and would tell her teacher all about her trip.In fact She told her teacher about our disney trip BEFORE I got to..

tab2Disney - POR is booked solid the second week in December, due to the Pop Warner competition. It is their choice for the moderate resort, so it will be packed.

okay... you are making it an ethical issue. That was not my intent. My 7 yr old will most definately remember but I doubt his teacher will ask him for specific dates. He does have several weeks off for break. Sorry I asked!

Tinkbyday that was rude. Conversations happen which sometimes go in other directions. :confused3

To the original OP check out www.lastminutetravel.com looks like DW gave them all their reservations. They do not list the resorts by name but if you look at the resturaunts you will know which resort it is. There are some good prices on there. When you do a search the first search for some reason leads you to downtown disney. Do a second search and just put in disneyworld and it gives you all of the resorts.

Also if you do a code not using lastminutetravel.com the 40% off room only code gives you the cheapest rate. Cheaper than free dinng and also the buy4/3 or buy 5/1. Book room only after that is secured add dining and tickets. It prices out the lease expensive. Do not do it all in one call. Book it hang up and call back. Unless the CM will do it for you in one phone call. I did it in one phone callm but they would not let me friend do it in one phone call. Also they only hold back so many rooms for each code. So ask about them all! good luck!
