Booking Hotel Room with APH

I'm sure I've seen this somewhere but I can't seem to find the answer now. I want to book RPH with the APH rate for November. Can I book this with the hotel without having an activated pass? Should I buy the pass first from the Universal website? I havent been to Universal in 10 years and have never bought an annual pass. I really would appreciate if anyone could help. you can book without the pass but do show the pass at the lobby counter sometime during your stay before checkout.

if you fail to purchase the ap, your rate would revert to rack rate when checking out.

you can buy the ap on the website.
you will receive a voucher that you will use to receive the actual ap.
when buying, the preferred or premier pass are the ones that qualify for the discounts.

some people buy the ap before they check into the hotel. (online)
some will buy the pass after they have checked into the hotel.

Stupid question but can I buy annual passes anytime in the year? I don't go until November so I was thinking of buying it later on but booking now...

you can buy the ap anytime.
you will recieve the voucher.

the start time on the ap will begin on the date you activate the voucher into the ap.

if you buy the ap sunday, but don't activate it until november 30, then 11/30 would be the start date of your ap.
