Booking Future dates While on Board

My family is sailing on the Magic on March 26th, and I was hoping to help my parents out and book our big group cruise for December 2018 while on board to take advantage of a discount. If there aren't dates for cruises yet, can you still pre-book something while on board?

Yes, you can book 2 placeholders while you are onboard. One for yourselves and one for your parents. Cost is $250 per placeholder.

Would I also be able to book for my brother? And is it one placeholder per stateroom (we usually have 2 connecting for us and 2 connecting for my brother, so a total of 5).

Just an FYI, b/c it wasn't quite what I was expecting - the forms they have sitting at the vacation planning desk make it seem like you need to know what cruise you want to go on already. You don't actually have to even fill out that form though. I just told the CM at the desk who I was and that I wanted to book a place holder, and there was no need to give any additional info.

I only booked one placeholder for one stateroom, but I could have booked 2 staterooms for that one placeholder under my name (in case I wanted my kids to have their own room). No more than that though. You can't book it in someone else's name who isn't on the cruise with you in March, in case that's what you meant.

I believe it's 2 staterooms per address on the current cruise. So if it's just your immediate family (mom/dad/kids) who all live together, you can book 2 with full OBB benefits. I believe when booking an actual future cruise date you can book more staterooms that should receive the OBC but not the discount; I'm not sure if this can be done with placeholders.

If any of those others will also be on the March cruise, you'll be able to get full benefits for more staterooms; otherwise just for 2 staterooms.

Enjoy your cruises!

Things have changed since I booked. In 2014 there was myself, my 4yo DD and MIL in the same room.

I was able to book a place holder (at that time I had to choose an actual cruise that we didn't intend to ever take) for myself and also a second place holder for my parents. My parents were not on the ship and they do not live at the same address as me.

At the same time my MIL was able to book the same place holder cruise for her and my FIL.

You should be able to book for other people who aren't on the cruise. It's easiest if you have their full names (as on their passport) and birth dates, but in a pinch you can just put one name on the booking and get everything fixed once you're back home.

You typically can book more than 2 rooms, but the 3rd and subsequent rooms don't get the 10% discount and the lower deposit. They do get onboard credit, though, so it's still worth doing.

In order to keep the discount, one name of one adult must stay the same on the booking, but you can add/subtract/change every other name.
