booking for honeymoon!?

Hi there! I am new to the board and excited to have people to talk with about this.

In my poking around, I'm strongly considering staying at Port Orleans Riverside when we go down. I've been playing with the online vacation planner and building packages online.

I saw it mentioned that you should put in requests when you first make your reservation. Are you able to do that online, or do you have to call a live operator vacation planner and have them add something. We would like to include somewhere that this is our honeymoon so they know. Is it possible to book online, then get in touch with them and have them go in and edit something? I'd really prefer to book online.

Also, as I'm booking now when I make the initial reservation it is going to be under my maiden name. My last name will be changing. Will I just call and let them know? That shouldn't be a big deal, right?

Certainly I am not an expert on honeymoon booking - but obviously congratulations! I would call and talk to a CM live and convey all your excitedness and situation to them. We found it very entertaining to have the CM on speaker with my DW and DD1.5 asking questions about the trip including budget, circumstances, etc...

If I were booking a honeymoon, I agree the POR is quiet. Whatever your budget may be, I would certainly eliminate the values. I spoke candidly to our CM booking last year and quoted hime the prices I found online.

Is your honeymoon a while after your wedding? Will all your ID be changed over to his name?

When I booked our wedding and honeymoon at Disney everything had to be in my maiden name because that was the ID I had. It took a couple of months to get all the paperwork processed and new ID issued in my married name.

Could you just book the trip under his name? Then you wouldn't have to worry about calling back and changing the reservation. It doesn't matter who the secondary guest is, as long as the primary guest remains the same. You could have them change your name when you get there, if you have your new ID by then.

First of all, congratulations! We honeymooned at the Wilderness Lodge in 2007. Booking online is no problem, but you will want to call and let a Cast Member know that you will be honeymooning once you have your confirmation number. They are super nice to talk to, but we did do our initial booking online so we could play with all the options and book exactly what we wanted. You can also mention the honeymoon as an event you'll be celebrating when you book any of your dining reservations. They might give you something special with your meal. Have a great time, we sure did!
