Booking for a group?

My apologies if this is not the right place to ask my question! I consider myself *sort of* a Disney veteran... I've booked 8 trips in as many years, but I have never booked for more than just my own family of four.

This year, my family of four will be visiting the hapiest place on Earth with my extended family. The reservation will be for three rooms, possibly four. Our dates are already set: 9/13-9/21. I am rossing my fingers tightly and hoping for Free Dining. I know my chances are very good, especially since I am not married to any particular resort option. Ideally, to save money, we'd like to go with All Star Movies.

I know that when I call to book our packages next month (with the hope to call and simply add Free Dining in March when it is offered), I will need to make a $200 deposit per room. My question is, when the balances on each room become due, can each room call seperately to pay their own balances or will I need to handle all payments? In other words, can each room be paid for with a different credit card?

Each reservation can be paid with a separate credit card, check, or gift card. You don't have to put out all the money and get reimbursed. Each reservation will have the lead name of that family in each room, so they are essentially separate. Disney will not allow you, for instance, to book all four rooms with your name as the lead name on all four ressies.

A few things on multiple reservations. You want to remember that discounts aren't pick and choose, to get three or four rooms at the same resort, you may have to change resorts to get them all.

If you get a pin code, you can only book three rooms on one code.

You can link your reservations and request the same area, building, etc. Linking your reservations will let the room assigner know you are traveling together and they will try to get you in the same place at least.

Have a wonderful time. I have done solo trips and trips with multiple families; each special in their own way. It is great seeing Disney through other people's eye - they tend to see things you forget you saw before.

Thank you for your thoughful and helpful answer! I am prepared to switch resorts, or even split the group between two different resorts if I have to. We don't spend much time at our resort! :)

There was a thread not long ago about the rumor that free dining in 2013 will not include the value resorts. Guy named Danny posted it, and it seems that he is usually right on the money with regard to upcoming promotions.
