Booking DVC Online

Does anyone know when the expected date is for DVC members to be able to book reservations online? I know I read something about that a few months ago but I don't remember. It would be so much easier than having to call everyday to try and see if something has come available yet.

According to DVC we should have it. They have been saying it for a few years now but it never comes about. No date announced as of now.

The official answer is always "within a year", which it has been for some number of years. I'm sure in December at the annual meeting the answer will be "within a year".

In 2006, they said it was coming "soon." It is still coming "soon." Disney's definition of "soon" is measured by comparing the time needed to the time the earth has existed. There was mention at last year's annual meeting through Jim Lewis that it was coming this year. He also mentioned that some tiered benefit program was coming. Neither has appeared and he has disappeared. Also, be wary of what you wish for. Best guesstimate based on Disney's history with on-line systems is that once it does appear, it won't work right, it will take three years to fix, and the only thing of substance it will actually do is eat your points and send them into cyberspace never to be seen again.

We keep asking and waiting but in reality what's the benefit? The only one that I can think of is maybe taking incompetent MS Advisers out of the loop but the trade off will be a system with limitations and problems.

The history of on-line reservations seems to have taken on urban legend proportions but I can never seem to find anything to supports others recollections.

First official mention of it I ever heard was when Jim Lewis confirmed it was being worked on in January 2009:

No date was given.

First record I can find of a specific ETA was the 2009 condo association meeting when he said Fall 2011:

That was restated at the 2010 condo meeting when they claimed things were on target for 2011 year end:

I dug up association meeting notes from 2008 and 2007 and there was no mention of on-line reservations being addressed at all.

Spoke to someone in-the-know a few days ago and while I couldn't get any specifics, I've been told it will be addressed at the 2011 condo meeting on December 8.
