I am so very sorry as I know somewhere this has obviously been answered but I can not find it again :sad2:

I am renting my cousin's points for the 1st half of my trip and have an annoying amount/configuration of people flying in and out over a split stay that includes his DVC at AKL. I would like to not bother him and book the DME myself but I was initially told only the DVC member can do so, and as a DVC member myself I assumed this. BUT, having been on the DIS now I noticed a while ago that there may be an online form to bypass this? I have also never rented so I don't know how this works...it's not a huge issue, just trying to keep it simple and not bother my cousin with tons of flight info if I can avoid it. TIA to anyone who can help me :flower:

While there are work a rounds and CM's that don't know the policy, officially DME for DVC should be booked through MS. Once booked, modifications can be made directly with DME.

I have been told that the DVC policy is due to accounting and to allow payment to DME. Calling DME directly, the phone prompts ask DVC to book DME through DVC.

Thank you Bill, this is the answer I was told every time I talked to a CM previously over the phone at MS, I thought maybe I overlooked something. I want everything to be booked correctly so perhaps I will just make a date with my Cuz to book it all out :thumbsup2

Not trying to contradict any points made thus far. I have found DME to be very flexible. I have called a number of times to set it up as both a DVC guest and cash customer usually only a day or so out - for mid week off peak. And as we travel standby as airline employees our itineraries are fluid. Every time I have callled the folks have been very friendly and gladly set us up or modified our plan - BTW, as we typically arrive the night before and stay near MCO, they give us an "open" reservation for our first day and we show up whenever. I have also done walk up - but only with a cash reservation. We booked an AP room at Pop enroute via GoGo wifi. After arriving we went down to DME and told the CM we had a recent reservation. He said to scan our band, and in we went. Easy.

So I would not be afraid to call if it comes to that. I've never had anything but great, friendly service. Only caveat is that we do not use or need the bag tags. We take our luggage to DME. If you need those an advance reservation is obviously necessary.
