Hi all!

Sorry for the question that has no doubt been asking a million times and is a very amateur one, but first time booking Florida!
Today the package prices for our dates went up on the Disney website, it's coming in as a lot more than i had anticipated when adding the flights with them.

Do the prices Disney offer directly lower or am i best to just start shopping around for independent flights and book my hotel/tickets only through Disney?

many of us find it cheaper to book accomodation and tickets through Disney, and shop around for flights.

shop around for flights, and you might find a cheaper combination (mind the connection and flight times), if not, then the disney package is still there

free dining is still on until october (even though the gift card is $100 lower since this morning)

I rang them up instead and booked it as one package before flights were announced. But each to their own, I just wanted one price nice and simple, and the people at Disney travel agents were very friendly, the prices also seemed a lot better than other travel agents

It can depend - when I booked for my in laws the Disney package was only £50 per person more expensive than buying the same flights separately.

For that little difference we booked the package as they only had to pay a deposit.

Twice I've booked the hotel and tickets package via Disney then added in the flights at a later stage when I've got a flight price I'm happy with during airline sales. That way I only have to pay a further £50 deposit per person. This year when adding in the flight it was only £10 dearer than booking direct with the airline.

Have booked hotel and tickets with Disney and flights separate in the past which was cheaper, but had to pay flights in full when I booked them.
This year I booked in January for October, got a great discount on AKL, making it about the same price as a moderate hotel and the flights were not much more than if I had booked separately. The added advantage was I just paid a deposit, so didn't have to pay for flights in full.
Disney also offer the indirect flights that can bring the cost of flights down a bit.

One of the cheapest ways I know is through Monarch Holidays or Cosmos Holidays (same company, same prices). They usually are much cheaper. Once you have booked you will get an email from your "holiday concierge" and you can email him/her with requests, questions, etc. The booking showed on MDE within 24 hours.
The only thing to be advised if that the planes do not have seatback screens but overhead screens so bring your own ipad. The flights are to Sanford but you can book transfers which are inexpensive. The cabin crew are very friendly though. For me I'd rather save a £1000 than to fly with Virgin / BA / Thomson.
I would have a look at the prices on their website and the choice available to see if it works out like a good option for you.
Also I only had to pay one deposit for the whole package: tickets, hotel, dining plan, transfers. They are giving free Sanford Orlando lounge access as well for 2015!
I understand everyone has different budgets / requirements / preferences so this may not be for everyone but just in case it helps someone I thought I would post this.

We ended up just biting the bullet and booking direct but leaving thr Monday instead of the Saturday as it worked out miles cheaper.
Figured as its our first time, probably best to just book all in the same place.

The countdown starts now!

Just a heads up but if you find flights cheaper online with Thomas cook like we did and you ring them you can pay a deposit, plus you can pick your seats straight after booking for £12.50 pp each way (now also flies into Orlando) :)

Debs xx

probably a bit late now but i found that virgin holidays have access to flights before you can even book them direct though virgin atlantic (9 months on VA) you can book currently up to end of december 2015.

I got a quote from VH and didn't put the deposit down there and then as i had to check a few things, then was busy and didnt get back for 2 weeks and the price had gone up by a stupid amount - this was because the flights had opened up to general sale in the meantime - and it was for easter 2015.

So I switched to may 2015 and got a better deal - sadly flights are expensive these days - and a huge amount of that is tax.

Virgin holiday flight prices are absolute madness. I have checked daily for weeks for August 2015. Premium Economy prices are especially high. I am waiting for VA to open flights.

I have booked accommodation and tickets through Disney directly, planning to add flights once they were available however now that I'm looking at the manage my booking section I don't see any facility to add this.

Has anyone done this before? Do I need to call them to add flights or am I missing something that's right in front of my face :rotfl:

When I have added flights I phoned them. I checked out the exact flights I want (during the sales) and the price direct with the airline then rang Disney and told them the flights and times/dates I wanted and paid them a further deposit.
