Does anyone know if the flights you book through the Disney World website are for the Main Cabin fare? I want to ensure that we can select seats so that my children are not sitting alone. I understand that the Basic Economy fare does not allow for seat selection, but Main Cabin fare does.

Thank you!

You can call Disney to verify that. You don't have to purchase the hotel and ticket package in order to just ask a question . You only have to purchase the room and ticket package to book the flights. You might be able to find out through the online chat.

I was wondering if anyone on here had first hand experience booking a Delta flight through the Disney World website and were able to select seats.

No, I guess there is no reason not to book directly with Delta.

I have no experience booking flights through the Disney World website. Maybe it is not recommended?

I would recommend just booking flights on your own. Then you'll have more flexibility on airline and will most likely find better prices. A looooong time ago (around ten-ish years ago) I looked at the options directly through Disney and it just wasn't worth it for us.

I hope someone can chime in with actual experience to answer your original question, but I would explore flights on your own before committing to buying them through Disney's website.

Good luck, and have fun planning your trip!

If something goes wrong with the flight you will then have Delta and Disney blaming each other.

I'm not sure how many people book their flights through Disney. I'm sure it's enough to keep the option available...but I think most people tend to procure their airfare elsewhere (for a variety of reasons).

I used to book flights through Disney many years ago. Then for some reason I saw the practice no longer included during booking, never found out why.

I think I checked the Delta website and the Disney World website and I had the impression that the airfare was better through the Disney World site - which led me to wonder if the Disney World site included the Basic Economy or Main Cabin fare.

Perhaps I was mistaken that the fares were better on the Disney World website as the Delta fares seem to fluctuate daily.

It is easier to deal with involuntary (airline created) schedule changes when you book directly with the airline.

This includes such situations as your Disney bound flight changed to later in the day or your homebound flight changed to earlier in the day.

Sometimes third party airline booking agencies (such as Disney, Expedia, Costco?, etc.) buy blocks of seats at a discount in order to show lower airfares to you. If a schedule change happens and the alternate flights you would like have no more seats in the agency's block then the agency has to go "outside the box" and get more expensive (to them) seats. As well as re-resell the seats from their block you booked originally and then changed out of. So the agency in that situation might try to convince you to take another of their selections instead of what you want even if the airline still has what you want. (New for 2019) Or maybe the agency might say that they can get the alternate flight you want but only in Basic Economy.

Try booking the whole trip through delta vacations. I’ve gotten very good packages through them.

Rule of thumb for us - never book third-party air. Disney contracts with the air carriers and, typically, I found, their change and cancellation fees and procedures are different and more stringent through those contracts than if you booked directly through the airline. If something goes wrong with your flight, you are much better off dealing directly with the airline than having to work through Disney to address the problem.

It's never recommended to buy airfare through a 3rd party unless the airfare is part of some special package only available with the other travel components through that service.

Just curious; why would you book through Disney for your flight? I know they offer it; but if you need anything or any changes need to be made it'll be a much bigger pain having a 3rd party involved (we learned the hard way.) I can't imagine Disney's able to get your flights cheaper than if you book directly through Delta? You can link your flights to magical express on your own.
Just something to think about.
