Booking day by day at 7 months?

I am just learning this to but I will share what has been explained to me.

We just purchased and the closing is taking forever! Because of that we missed the 11 month out reservation date for BCV. So we are wait listed but in the mean time it would be nice to have some place to stay so at the 7 month out mark I can finally start to call for reservations at other DVC's.

We want to arrive on 12/7 so our 7 month out day is 5/12/08. It is based on the last day of your stay not the first! Confusing I know!

But if I call on May 8th and just reserve the date of 12/7 I can do that. Then on 5/9 I call again and add 12/8 to our reservation. Then on 5/10 I call again and add 12/9 to our reservation......and so on until I have very night booked. Of course all of this is based on availability.

I hope I have this right! :confused3 :rotfl:

Ah, got it. So at busy times it makes it more likely that you will at least get some or most of your stays rather than wait and take a chance by reserving the whole week and missing out.

Thanks so much for the help. We haven't even passed ROFR yet but any day.....Congrats on your purchase!

Also, lets say you are booking a week and you are doing it day by day.....
will MS tell you how it looks for the rest of the week????

Yep, if you call and say "I'm planning on doing day by day, how does the week look" MS can say "it looks very open, don't bother" or "oh, good idea!" Or even, "I can tell you there is already a waiting list in place for that Sunday night."

I've never heard of it being done for non-DVC options.

Can you day by day booking at non dvc resorts????
Sure but it'd be an additional $95 fee for each day. For non DVC stays, it would be unreasonable not to book the entire stay at once. There may be exceptions like longer trips or multiple rooms.

Please, Please, Please!! If you are booking day-by-day and linking your ressies, please make sure you call before you leave and doublecheck that everything is in order.

I had a terrible experience with my day-by-day ressie last November at VWL. (I wound up getting all my nights except one in the middle, for which we paid cash.) It messed up our Dining Plan, I had to go down to the desk at least three times to "check out and check in" or to straighted out the mess that Member Services made. They had assured me that all my ressies were linked, but as it turned out, they were not.

All was eventually rectified and they even sent us a nice little goody basket as an apology, but, Yikes! What agita!

I will never, ever, try to book day-by-day again. I waitlisted for our trip next week and just waitlisted the entire trip. Fortunately, it came through.

Good Luck to you all! :goodvibes

Kathy

Just wondering.....did MS send you the confirmation letter that comes 2-3 weeks after your phone reservation? If so, what did it say on that letter? I only ask because I booked our upcoming trip (less than 3 weeks to go!!) at 7 months day-by-day last October. I received the letter from MS and there is one confirmation # for the entire reservation (i.e. no linking necessary, I'm thinking). Did you have several different conf.#'s for your trip and they didn't link them? I'm just trying to figure out why you had such a bad experience (and hope I don't need to worry!) When I called for my 2nd, 3rd, etc. night they (MS) had simply added 1 night to my existing reservation. Is this the same process they used with your reservation? Thanks!
