Booking cruise with points then cancelling?

If you book a cruise with points, what is the cancellation policy?

We're thinking about using points for the european cruise. Has anyone heard if this will be possible? (btw, I know it's not the most efficient use of points) It's a long way off though, and my boys have health issues. Has anyone cancelled a cruise booked with points?

I can't imagine how many points DCL will command for a european cruise

Because this is an exchange, the points will be reservation points, and will not be able to go back into your regular DVC account if you cancel.

I just did this with a Caribbean cruise. Had to cancel and now the points are "reservation points" and cannot be used for DVC properties. In the future I will ALWAYS rent the points and then pay cash for the cruise. Just my $.02
