Hi, I just became a DVC member on Thursday when I was on my DCL vacation. I booked two cruises for 2008 while on board before I purchased into DVC. I asked the DVC and DCL reps on board how to book the cruise for 2008 (transfer ressies or rebook thru DVC) and I received a bunch of stunned stares. I didn't think it was such an odd question since I was on the cruise and wanted to book again. But I bet the folks on the dis boards will be able to help me.

How far in advance can I book a cruise with my DVC points?

Is there a discount for on-board re-book like there is for "cash" re-booking?

If I can't pay the entire party with points, is it better to pay for adults or children with point?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Just got a call from DVC today about buying AKV starting March 5th. We just booked the Magic for July 2008. I wanted to know how many DVC points it would take for the cruise we just booked. He said we could pay for a portion of it with DVC points. It's an easy transfer. I did not know how many points it would take but that info would be out by the time he called me in three weekds to talk about buying into AKV. Has anyone ever used points for a cruise. What did you get and how many points did it take. Thanks for the info!

I only have 2007 point list for DCL but it gives you a ballpark figure (based on peak season for Western itinerary)

227 pt each for 1st 2 occupants
156 pt each for 3 - 5 yr old
159 pt each for 6 -12 yr old
189 pt each for 13-adult

I was told that it is better to use points for first two occupants and cash for kids/3rd or 4th adult in room.

Thanks so much! I Looks like that would work for us! We are thinking of buying 160 points and we would just pay for the kids. We'll see in about three weeks!
