If we book a cruise now for next year, (we want specific staterooms), can we apply the onboard future cruise credit and discount to the cruise when we sail in September?

You can go ahead a book the rooms now. Then, once onboard, you "reshop" the reservation. Discounts are taken on the prices at the time of booking onboard. So, if the price hasn't risen enough to negate the discount savings (as it may do), you can cancel and rebook onboard to get the onboard booking perks. If the price has risen too much for the onboard booking discount to save you any money, you've already booked at the best price.

You'll have to have them cancel the existing reservation, then book a new reservation using the discount, which can only be applied to a new reservation. So you can only get the 10% off whatever the cruise's cost will be in September, not the current price.

I've done this before and it isn't difficult for them to cancel & rebook the cruise. Doing this might be helpful if there is a certain cabin or category you want to try to keep from being booked by someone else prior to September.

Thank you! I've booked actual dates on board. I've always found the lines to be long whenever I attempt to book so I put a post card in the place holder box and then book at home.

Thank you PrincessShmoo, I hadn't even taken in consideration that the price now could be less that what we would save waiting to book on board.

If you know what you want to book, I've found that I've never had a line going the first evening as soon as they open and getting it taken care of then and there. Easy peasy. (Of not the first night, then the first morning hanging out just before their open time has also worked for me.)
