Booking cruise on points

Mods-please move if I have this in the wrong place! New to posting in the DVC area.

My question involves a few things, so I'm hoping those who are in the know on points can help me out!

Our use year is April. And that's what all my confusion is about. Use year! First off, we are looking at booking a cruise that leaves on March 31, 2011. The day BEFORE our use year begins. I do not have enough 2010 points. So, I will have to use 2010 points and part of 2011. How will this work? Since the cruise starts before the end of my use year, I won't need to bank my 2010 points??? And I can borrow my 2011 points when I book?

I am planning on staying at WDW before leaving on the cruise, so how will this work for my transportation to and from? I won't be using points for my lodging at WDW. I'll be paying OOP for lodging.

Another question is something that I'm sure has been asked a million times. Since I'm still confused, I have to ask again. It says " •Members cannot book and travel on Disney Cruise Line vacations within the last 4 months of their use year." I read this to mean I CAN "travel" in those last 4 months, I just can't "book AND travel" in the last 4 months. Which in my case would mean Dec., Jan., Feb., and March I cannot book and travel before April 1. Is my understanding correct?

And last question! The points listed for the cruise are 67-70. How do they determine how many points it is? Location of the room? Is there anywhere that lists this info?

I'll let someone with experience answer the booking and cabin questions.

Since you have an April use year, and want to cruise in March, you must make the reservation to do so prior to December 1. (So November 30 or sooner).

So yes, it appears your understanding is correct. You CAN travel during the last four months of your use year as long as you make the reservation before the end of the 8th month.

So if you call in January to make a reservation to cruise during the following March, you will be told no due to the 4 month rule. You'd have to make that reservation on or before November 30.
