Booking CRT with another family

Our 180 days is coming up in the next week for our September trip. Dining at CRT is a priority for my DD who will be 4 at the time of the trip. My DD's best friend from preschool will also be at WDW during the same time frame and is celebrating her birthday. Her mom suggested that we do CRT (lunch)together on her DD's birthday which I think is a great idea for the girls, but I need some advice on how to handle making the reservations.

I don't think that it is a good idea for us to make one big reservation because CRT is a HUGE deal to both girls. Both families have potential scenarios, while unlikely, that could cause one of us to have to cancel our trip. I certainly wouldn't want to cause the other family a problem with their reservation and I don't want my DD to miss out on CRT either.

In the past, I've had to make two reservations (like a 3+2) to accomodate our family on trips and we've been seated together without any problems, but if both families make seperate reservations (2 families of 4) for CRT is it probable or unlikely that we would be able to sit together. Obviously, no one knows for sure, but if I could get an idea of it is was a good possibility or completely unlikely, it would be helpful.

Any other suggestions on how to handle this?

Thanks!

Call the dining line now, and ask them if you can link ressies after they are made.

I was able to book CRT before the 180th day from when I wanted to go. Call on the 180th day from when you check in and you will beable to book CRT for whatever day you want to make the ressies, up to 10 days after.

Can you please explain this to a blond.....
Not sure what you mena by check in.......
and
Does it have to be a diensy resort?

She means if you are staying on property you can make all of your ADRs at 180 day out from the day you check in. You don't have to call back each day.

AS far as CRT, I booked with two other familes and had to make one ressie. It was okay for me since both other families are my relatives and I am paying for my 2 nieces as a bday present anyhow, but if they weren't related, I might have pushed a bit harder to have sep. reservations and link them together
