Hi,

I wanted to know if we have an ADR for 6 people (2 families of 3) I know we get charged the 18% tip automaticly. But what happens if only 3 of us go do get charged the 18% automaticly? should we try and change the booking before we leave the resort if they dont want to come?

Thanks

I may have the same problem as you. I am going in Sept and recently made my ADRs - right now I am positve that there will be 3 adults and 1 child. BUT 2 more adults may join us, but it is very uncertain right now. When I called to make my ressies I explained this to the CM and asked if it would be better to make reservations for 6 (5 adults 1 child) or 4. She said 6 because it's much easier for them to make a reservation smaller than bigger if i need to change it. So I made my reservations for 6 knowing if the 2 others don't come I can call and change it to 4 - I was told by changing the amount of people from more to less I won't lose my reservation time or restaurant.
So if I were you I would just call and let them know the amount of people changed for your reservation. I'm sure they would appreciate and I doubt they would hol dyou to the 18%. This way if they need your bigger table for anouther party they can use it and put you at a smaller table. Either way, I don't think you would be charged an 18% tip if there is less than 6 people in your party.

Good Luck

Wendybird is absolutely right. It's much easier to decrease your party size than it is to increase it. If you make the reservation for three people, you will get a table that seats four. If you increase that to six, they will have to find a table for two to make the size what you need. It's really a matter of table management, not people management.

Just look at the bill and make sure that you don't double tip. It really shouldn't be a big deal either way. You will tip either way, right? Just check the bill carefully.
