I am looking into becoming a DVC member. I am considering buying resale into OKW because it is cheaper, but would really want to stay at BWV or BCV. Since I would be able to book only 7 months in advance instead of 11 months, how difficult is it to book BWV or BCV during peak vacation times?

The best advice is to buy where you want to stay. BCV can be especially hard to get at peak times.

Both can be difficult in early December and October during the food & wine festival. Not sure about the holidays.

If you want to stay at BWV and get either a Boardwalk View or a Standard View (less points) room on a regular basis, then I think that is where you should buy. Otherwise, you are setting yourself up for decades of possible disappointment.

there is a reason OKW is cheaper. It is a bigger rsort with more availability. We own both OKW and BWV because we love both and want to be assured of being able to go to BWV when we want to.

We tried to get either a studio or one bedroom at BCV for June in January. None were available. So if you want to stay at BCV, buy BCV. If you want to stay at BWV, buy BWV.

If you really only want to stay at an Epcot resort and not OKW, I'd buy an Epcot resort. :sunny:

I also own at OKW. We usual travel during the kid's break from school, like Mid Feb, summer, Easter. I have been able to get BWV on the wait list when I have gone on it 7 months out. However I see things changing. I use to be able to get standard view and I have no luck with that anymore and I believe, just my opinion, it will become harder to get an view at Boardwalk as more SSR are sold (more people trying for the 7 month window). Beach Club you probably will not get it. Also some of this depends on which size room you want. Studios go first and are the hardest to get. I just got lucky with Beach Club for the 3 week of June on a wait list but I believe school breaks are harder to get.

If you really want BC or BWV you really need their pts.

If you check this list posted by Doc:
OKW - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 274 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 230 Lockoffs - 27 Grand Villas = 531 Units / 761 Max. Available Rooms

VB - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 18 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 36 Lockoffs - 6 Grand Villas - 112 Inn Rooms = 172 Units / 208 Max. Available Rooms

HHI - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 76 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 21 Lockoffs - 5 Grand Villas = 102 Units / 123 Max. Available Rooms

BWV - 97 Dedicated Studios - 130 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 0 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 149 Lockoffs - 7 Grand Villas = 383 Units / 532 Max. Available Rooms

VWL - 20 Dedicated Studios - 27 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 44 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 45 Lockoffs - 0 Grand Villas = 136 Units / 181 Max. Available Rooms

BCV - 36 Dedicated Studios - 20 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 78 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 74 Lockoffs - 0 Grand Villas = 208 Units / 282 Max. Available Rooms

SSR - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 360 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 432 Lockoffs - 36 Grand Villas = 828 Units / 1260 Max. Available Rooms (based on proposed 18 buildings to be open in 2007) (( Currently there are 120 Dedicated 2BR , 144 Lockoffs and 12 GV's for a total of 276- 420 max))

You can see why it is difficult to get BCV at the 7 month mark. This doesn't show the break down of standard view BWV, but it is a very small portion of the total number of rooms available at BWV. "buy where you want to stay" is the mantra on this board, and it is becoming more important than ever the more members there are.

To add to Diane's post, for the BWVm figure that 20% of the units are Boardwalk view and 20% are standard view. (Various sizes of units are scattered fairly evenly throughout the resort). That's not 100% accurate, but it is close and will give you an idea of why it is rare for anyone to be able to book one of those views at 7 months.

Best wishes -

Thanks everybody!

I thought I would be better off buying where I want to stay, but I thought I should check to be sure. Now for my final decision: buy BWV or BCV!
