Hi everyone,
My wife and I just closed a week ago at SSR knowing that in a few years we would like the peace and quiet of being away from the parks at the end of those long Disney days. For the time being though while our twin boys are young and wild we wanted to stay at the BWV in mid November of 09. We'll be at Disneyland for Christmas this year since we live in Cali. My first question is when is "Jersey Week" and how long is it? My second question is how easy or hard do you think it would be to book a 2 bedroom for 10 nights at the BWV in mid November after Jersey week ends and before Thanksgiving begins? :grouphug: Thanks fopr any inof you can give a newbie:)

'Jersey Week' corresponds with a two day teacher convention for the state. As it often coincides with election, veterans day etc many families take the extra days and make a vacation of it. As well, I believe if the teachers have taken enough professional development they don't need to attend either and end up taking a vacation as well.

Future Convention dates:
November 6-7, 2008
November 5-6, 2009
November 4-5, 2010

In addition, it is the usually the last week of Food & Wine. The crowds are noticeably less the week after. A nice quiet break before Thanksgiving hits.

We are SSR owners as well and have always had success with the waitlist for that last week of Food and Wine. However, we have always booked a studio so I can't comment on the 2-bed.

Good luck!

My sister is waitlisted this year for the week between F & W ending and Thanksgiving week at BWV - trying to get a 2-bedroom. She called at the 7-month window, but not right at 9 a.m. Some days were available but not all, and she didn't want to chance needing to move mid-visit. I think she might have been looking only at standard view. You might have more luck if you are flexible to book preferred as well.

The easiest week to book in November is the week before Thanksgiving, just after the end of Food & Wine Festival.

Tahnk you so much for the great info. Does anyone have anythoughts on maybe my luck might be better at VWL durring that time frame or what about last week of Sept. and first week of Oct. for either BWV or VWL? More than likely I'll be having my first waitlist experience won't I? :rotfl2:

The period just before Thanksgiving is our favorite all year (weather, Christmas decorations, low crowds, gorgeous).

Depart Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, and wave at the arriving hordes.

We've gone Jersey Week (being from NJ) almost every time we've gone to WDW. The crowds are not bad at all, so I wouldn't be too worried about hitting that week. I've tried to get BWV at 7 months for a 2 bdrm for that time of year and I could get the weekdays, but not the weekends. You may have better luck, however, going in the middle of the month.

I think it's really nice to have your first DVC trip be a stay at your home resort. SSR has a really great pool for small children.
