I am a Boardwalk owner with 200 BWV points to work with. I am looking to book a two bedroom at the 11 month window. I would like to book a room for a week but of course I need more than 200 points for that. I own at two other resorts as well. So here are my questions.

Would you book 6 nights in a two bedroom standard view at 11 months and try to wait list one more night in a standard two bedroom with my other points at the 7 month?

Or

Would you book a pool / garden view two bedroom for 5 nights at 11 months out and try to wait list the other two nights at 7 months?

I am wondering what everyone thinks would be the best chance of getting a full 7 nights. Of course, I would like to have all 7 nights in a two bedroom. I am wondering if there are more pool / garden 2 bedrooms and thus would have a better chance getting the 2 nights at 7 months. Or would it be better to try to only get a standard two bedroom for 1 night at 7 months?

Thats a dilema! I would try the pool/garden view because the standard view will probably go quicker so you might have a better chance of the room coming through. Both are probably hit or miss, this is just my opinion. If anyone has a number or rooms available for each view that should probably factor into your desicion as well. Good luck and I hope whatever you do ends up working out!

There are many more pool and garden than standard view villas. Honestly the decision may be made for you if you aren’t quick enough at 11 months anyway. Standard view 2 BR/studios book up right at 8 am pretty consistently for October due to the low point requirements and proximity to F&W. Obviously the shorter the waitlist the greater probability of it coming through but you have to remember that there could be a lot of people ahead of you on the waitlist for either studios or 2 BR (all 2 BR at BWV are Lockoffs). Personally I think you’d have a better shot at getting the 2 night pool and garden waitlist but it’s possible that also might not come through. Some people would say to waitlist the 2 night stay separately in order to improve the chances of it matching but I’ve never done that.

Another option would be to either:

1. Borrow from next years points and bank the other points you have available.
2.find another BWV owner and get a transfer of points, rent your other points to offset the costs.

I'd borrow points to make the BWV reservation - your chance of booking anything in October at seven months are slim. Yep, that means you won't be staying at the BW for another year, but that is the way of Food and Wine.

Speaking from experience, standard view studios or 2 bedrooms at bwv for October are TOUGH to reserve. You need to be online at 8:00 am on booking day to have any chance of booking one. There are just too many bwv owners that want standard villas during food and wine.

I would borrow points and book my whole week in a standard view. I doubt a waitlist made at the 7 month mark would ever fill for a standard view for October. Too many bwv owners in front of you that were shut out at the 11 month window.

First, I would consider borrowing or transferring and booking the whole thing.

Are you flexible on your travel dates?

If so, I would book the 6 in a standard (if you can get that) and waitlist both the day before and following. (Increases your chances a bit)

I got a standard studio at 6 months for 1 night as an add-on to my trip in mid Dec. But it was to extend my vacation (and book cheaper flights) not to shorten it and I would have been ok with not getting to stay that night. For me, I'd rather have 6 of my nights guaranteed rather than 5. You could always book the 7th night on cash as a back up.

As others have mentioned, you may not get the standard at 11 anyway and then at least your decision is made!

And I'd be prepared, even right at eleven months, to do the whole week in a preferred view room. It is the time of year where even BWV owners get locked out at eleven months for those standard views.

I agree to a point. Think it would be easier to book a 2BR at BWV during that time than say a Studio for sure.. Even a 1BR.. People don't like to spend the points for a 2BR...

Since BW only has lock-off 2 BR, getting a 2 BR is no easier than getting a studio.

Ahh.. forgot that BWV was lock-offs... Yeah, it would be tough 7 months out.. Glad I own there! It will be VERY tough when Star Wars Land is online, and Ratatouille, and Toy Story Land, and Guardians, etc.... Might be very hard to get 7 months out for sure.... Just my .02 cents worth.......
