Booking BLT if We're Non-DVC Owners

Just out of curiosity, what happens if a room is opened up for cash at 60 days, someone books it for cash, and then a DVC member wants a room and none are available? I mean, what happens to the people that booked the cash room? Does Disney just send the to a different resort?

If a member wishes to book inside of the 60-day window, they have to accept whatever DVC has remaining in inventory. That means that if they wanted a 2-bedroom at BLT and it had already been given up to CRO and booked by a non-member, then that DVC member will be out of luck. "Disney" does not send them to a different resort and they won't rescind the reservation for the cash guest. The member can choose from any other DVC villas that are still available as long as they have enough points to cover their stay.

I want to book BLT for October 2014, I would be able to book through CRO November 2013? (in other words, don't stalk the disneyworld website yet)

Just out of curiosity, is it a one-for-one trade? i.e., BLT owner books a 2-br at another resort, so a 2-br at BLT becomes available?

A BLT cannot book another resort with their BLT points until seven months out. And then another member can use their non-BLT points to book that two bedroom villa or whatever they need and they can get on points. And the villa those BLT points represent isn't available for cash reservation until 60 days out (if it hasn't been booked by then).

I booked a 2 bedroom lakeview on Oct. 24, 2012 . I started checking for any openings in Sept. and checked every day. I booked Sept. 15-21, 2013.

I just don't understand why you don't rent points. It seems like a safer way to be assured you'll get a villa, and save you a ton of money. We rent all the time now, when staying onsite, and find it very easy.

It actually doesn't save a ton of money over the AP discount and you have to pay up front which we're not able to do.

SRUAlmn, I've been playing with the Disney reservation site with dates for next June, and it seems appears that you need to be 11 months out from check-out date.

I base this on the fact that there is availability for 10 nights at a 2BR TPV or LV, as well as some 1BR & Studios, so long as I check out on or before 10 June 2014. If I enter 10 nights, checking on 11 June, all villa types show up as unavailable.

So, even though I'll be in the middle of a week at the beach on 8 Aug, I'll be checking in with the site and with CRO to try for the rooms.

I was JUST doing the same thing! It looks like you can't book until it's 11 months out from your check OUT day. It wouldn't let me check anything in June that had a check out date past the 10th ( which is 11 months from today.) Therefore, it seems like if I am looking at booking July 13-20 then I wouldn't be able to book it until August 20, right? I am a teacher and I am so bummed that August 20 is a weekday because I can't use Internet, phone, or anything all day!

We've been checking daily (sometimes multiple times ) and the theme park view rooms have been available starting 11 months out from the check out day. Every time we've checked there's been something. Now, all of a sudden, we can't get anything to show up as available with a check out date past July 12. I know that's the last day before value season begins so I'm wondering if it has something to do with that? Anyone have an idea why this would be happening now? Based on the pattern we had seen, we should've been able to book our trip this coming Tuesday, so now I'm worried we won't be able to!

am a DVC member and own at BLT - love it!

it might be a computer problem - Disney seems to have alot of them lately.
so if this Tuesday you can't find what you want - call them.

Now love BLT - but some of the lake views are actually better than the MK views.

if you get 8th floor or below - then it is mostly parking lot and monorail - above is definitely better.

look at the pictures from both MK view and lake view. Lake view is a heck of lot easiler to get.

Thanks so much for the input. We did call (thinking it might be a computer issue due to all the FP+ things being added) and they told us they can't tell us anything other than what it says online. I have often found your answers will highly depend on the CM you get, so we'll try again if we keep noticing it. The whole reason we chose BLT is bc my mom really wants to experience seeing Wishes from her room and I want to try to make that happen for her, so wish us luck!

Well, last night we just went ahead and booked July 3-10 since a two bedroom theme park view was available. We really don't want to pay the higher rate, and would rather go during value season, but at least we have something and we're excited to think about watching the July 4th fireworks from our room! (We've done it in the park in the past and its mayhem!) So we'll just go from here now and keep checking the later July dates, but at least we have something great...just in case!

I've been posting some updates about when things have been opening up and realized I was posting them on the thread that was on the DVC board, which obviously people booking cash reservations wouldn't see, so someone on that thread suggested I post the updates here. Good idea I figured this might be helpful for anyone else trying to figure out this whole DVC with Cash puzzle in the future! I wish a thread like this had existed when we first started trying to figure this out

Just checked again, and now it's finally going through the 14. It was an exact science for a month in which it would let you see availability 11 months from the check out date, but now it seems to be 11 months and 10 days from the check out date?

Now it's allowing bookings through a check out date of July 26, however, only standard view studio, 1BR, and 2BRs are showing availability.

I know I keep updating and I'm the only one who cares, haha, but it will be good to look back on and see which dates each category & date span opened on. Today it lets you go through July 19 and shows availability in almost all room categories.

As of yesterday, almost all categories were open through a check out date of July 22.

Update:

Today there is more availability through the end of July & early August 2014. It is allowing booking through a check out date of August 5 with availability in all categories except 2 bedroom standard view, and for a few days past that with limited availability in 2-4 of the room categories.
