Hi Everyone: Here's a question for our experts. What resorts and which types of rooms are very hard to get at the 7 month window(ranking would be good). If you wish, it would be appreciated if you could also break it down to the time of the year also. I think quite a few of us new members would be very grateful. Thanks again. Canadian Tom

I am by no means a guru but I'll take a stab at it...

First two weeks of December are tough at all resorts. It's the lowest points of the year and the Xmas decorations are out. You can probably get in at OKW, maybe, but anywhere else you most likely will have to waitlist.

Slowest times of the year (ie easier to book at 7 months out) would be January and September.

I seem to remember reading that studios book up first, then 2BR, then GV, then 1BR.

BWV standard views book up fast from what I understand. I guess you have to book day by day to be guaranteed that view and it's lower points. Now with the new preferred view systems, I would guess the BW view would be hard to get as well.

BWV and BCV will be difficult to book during the Food and Wine Fest (mid October through mid Nov) and possibly during the Flower and Garden Fest in May. I haven't heard that the F&G Fest makes it hard to get in, but I have heard that about F&W Fest.

Hope this helps as you were asking for a wide variety of info. I know I wasn't terribly detailed, but if you post a specific concern, I am sure someone can address it here.

I have no personal experience to back this up, but I heard or read on these boards that it's nearly impossible to get a summer reservation at Hilton Head at the 7 month window.

GVs book first, then studios, then one bedrooms, then two bedrooms.

In order, GV at almost anytime of year is about the hardest at seven months, followed by SV at BWV, first two weeks of December at any resort, late October till the week before thanksgiving, then everything else.

Lots of good information here.

To what's been published, I'll add that Spring Break is difficult at any resort...even though the points are high then, it's just a high demand time even for DVCers.

I think for early December, the hardest to get will be VWL because it's the smallest resort and its theming fits the holiday decorations perfectly.

And my guess is that Saratoga Springs will be relatively easy to get once it's complete because it will be the largest resort and may not have as much 7-month demand as some of the other resorts.
