Has anyone ever booked at any other Disney resort (not DVC)? How does that work? What if you wanted to plan a special trip to say the Grand Floridian for a romantic couples trip. Can you use points for that? Would you want to? :confused3

You can do that - GF is part of the Disney collection, and it costs $95 to use your points there. They also become reservation points once you book that, and if you would cancel, it is more difficult to use those points.

However, the biggest drawback is the price per night - the GF ranges from 45 to 170 points per night, depending on the season and type of room.

I just got my GV at OKW for June and it only used 58 points per night. Compare the GV with a single room at the GF. Big difference.

Most people will agree that using you points anywhere other that at the DVC resorts isn't a good value and that you can get a better deal using cash.

It's almost as if Disney doesn't want you to use your points outside of the DVC resorts but they want to be able to advertise the hundreds of locations when they are selling memberships.
