Hi All:

I am booking my first DVC vacation this weekend for BWV Sept 4-8th. I spoke to MS today and they said they have several studios available, none with boardwalk views. My question is, I am not familiar with this resort at all, they have multiple studios with a preferred view of either the Luna pool, the quiet pool or the gardens. I think I would prefer a pool view........any suggestions? Is this resort huge and how convenient are these rooms to everything else? Walking distance to Epcot/Hollywood Studios? The map doesn't give me a good idea. Since we are traveling without the kids :), would the quiet pool be best??

thanks!

There is both BWV and BoardWalk Inn (the hotel) and the resort is fairly large Go to the following and you will see a very useful photo of the resort with BWV side marked off: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1801651

Preferred non-boardwalk studios can be anywhere marked in red on that photo.

From center of BW resort (lobby/Village Green area; center of photo between BWV and BWI), walk to Epcot is about 8 to 10 minutes and to MGM about 20 to 25. You can also take boat to either.

There is only one set of elevators right near the lobby ; and thus the further from that area the longer the walk to the elevators (there are stairwells sprinkled throughout). The quiet pool area is furthest from elevators. However, you are talking about a 2 minute walk to furthest point from elevator. Staying in quiet pool area, if you use stairs, gives you a few minutes head start towards the Studios. Nevertheless, any preferred view area is fine with or without kids.

We like to stay near the quiet pool. There is never anyone in that pool and it is close to the bus stop. It's only a 2-3 minute walk to the boardwalk and the main lobby.

No the quiet pool just has the community center and a hot tub. My suggestion is buy it off property and take it down with you. The prices at the bar and in the store are outragous. We usually buy a bottle and lemonade and make our own. Just make sure you dont use glass containers.

Note that you are making a request. There are three view categories at BW - Standard View (cheaper points, generally overlook the front drive), Boardwalk View (overlook the Boardwalk) and Preferred View (pool, garden water). These are booking categories. But once you get in the category, anything else is a request - they are not booking you a specific room. You can ask for the canal or the garden or a high floor or a low floor or close to the elevators, and maybe you'll get it. We've had lousy luck getting requests met ourselves, but perhaps yours might be better.

If you have kids, consider a low floor for easy stair access to the pool - Luna Park has the slide (and pool bar) but the trade off is that it is noisier than the community pool.

FWIW, Just this past week, I checked into a standard room at BWV early....8a. They wouldn't tell me the room # until the room was ready....which wasn't until 4p! So, they don't give you any way to change your room assignment, regardless of when you check in.

Hi!!!

I just saw that you are from PA too!!! We are also staying at BWV's August 31-Sept 8th. We booked a 1 bedroom standard view. We have stayed in a studio standard view and have not been disappointed. The quiet pool is just that, very quiet. When Dh & I were there last Sept we were the only ones in the pool each night we went. It was a little strange having the whole pool to ourselves.

Hope you have a great time!

Thanks for checking in! Enjoy your trip as well. I'm booking this weekend. I spoke to MS and they said there are plenty of preferred view studios' available, so I shouldn't have a problem grabbing a room. It's our first trip as DVC members, so I am very excited!

Welcome Home! Enjoy your first trip. BWV is one of our favorites! Have fun!
