So the 7 month window is approaching for my summer vacation and I've been paying attention to how fast the date disappears each day, usually within 1 minute.
So my question is would I be better off just trying to book the individual day when the window opens and call MS later in the day to get the rest of the week? (I noticed today that day 2 of my reservation would have sold out before day 1)
According to how I understand the rules, I would be allowed to add the other 6 days after I have the first day, correct?
Thanks

You can book your full week 7 months out from your check-in date
If you only booked your check-in day, you would have to login or call each day for the next 6 days. (And risk those days disappearing)

this does not make any sense to me. there is no advantage.

if you book day 1, you can book up to the next 6 nights (7 nights in all) with one call...IF they are available.

if day 2 is not available when you call to book day 1, then you can only book day 1. even if days 3 - 7 show availability to book, you would not be able to book them unless they were still available in 2 days (i.e. when the 7 month window opens for day 3).

If at 8:00 I try to book on line all 7 nights, but 1 is not there it will not let me book around it(I believe) so when I go back and change my reservation, by 8:02 I try to book just the beginning of the trip it is gone.

correct - you cannot book around a missing day.

opinions vary on what to do next.

personally, i would just waitlist the whole stay immediately and hope for the best. (but i would already be booked at my home resort, so if it never filled - which has happened a time or 2 - i would still have a place to stay that i was happy with.)

if you have more patience, yes, you can book a single night and both 1) waitlist and 2) stalk the website to fill in missing individual nights. i don't think calling MS would help, though. if you have checked the resort availability tool and day 2 is unavailable (and you don't want to passively wait on a waitlist), then yes, grab day 1 if it is available at 8:00 and then wait till later/the next day to see if you can book day 2 or else waitlist it. (and then keep working day by day to fill the week out.)
