Booking a Photographer?

When do people usually book their photographer (a yr, two yr's, etc.)? Who would you recommend (Domenico Castaldo, Misty, or Randy) and why?

best bet would be to hire someone AS SOON as you know who you want since most photographers accept only a very limited amount of wedding per year. it doesn't hurt to just put your feelers out...contact the photographers you are interested in. they can check availability and give you a price quote. that information will probably help you decide who you want to hire and if you have made your decision...book 'em!

We booked Randy approximately 15 months before the wedding and, as he works a lot with Disney brides, he knows the procedure and would have worked with us to rearrange if we hadn't been able to get the date we wanted

We booked him early as photography was very important to us, and we loved his style.

I booked Randy about 18 months out. When I was emailing with him he told me he already had 8 wedding booked for Dec. 2010 so I jumped when he said our date was still available.

I booked Randy before the 1 year mark too. He was the very first vendor I booked for the wedding, and was very accommodating about switching dates due to Disney's lottery system.

I booked the Roots about 5 months out, but that's cuz we only started planning about 6 months out. If I were doing it today, I'd book them the instant I had my date.

Exactly what I was going to say!! We booked him at around 15 months out too because we loved his style and wanted to get him. I would have changed our wedding date if we'd had to to get him!
