Booking 2 studios vs a 2 bedroom

After looking at the point charts (specifically BCV during Magic Season) I see that 2 studio rooms would come to 268 points for a week vs a 2 bedroom BCV room at 350 pts/wk.

Is it possible to book 2 rooms like this and get them side by side-considering you book at the 11 month window?

That is quite a bit difference in points and as much as I love the in-laws...i'm sure they would like their privacy:)

Is this possible to book if i have the points?

From what I have read/heard, BCV does not have side-by-side studios. Each studio is next to a 1BR.

There are no guarantees, it will depend upon if they have people vacating two nearby studio units on your check-in date.

They will do their best to place you near each other. Remember that there has to be at least one 18yo+ adult in each room. No DVC resort has connecting studios, studios only have a connecting door to a one bedroom, making a two bedroom lockoff.

There is a significant difference in the accommodations. With a 2BR you get a living room/kitchen, a huge master suite and the equivalent of a studio. Plenty of room to get away from those pesky in-laws.

I also should have clarified that the kitchen is not a big draw for my fam right now-we really enjoy the restaurants on Dis property and we usually spend little time in our rooms.

Side by side studios is not a deal breaker. One thing i will concede is that the master suite looks pretty nice. I just don't know if i'd book a 2 bdrm just for that when we're not in the room too much...

There are side by side studios, but they would not have a connecting door between them. There are many that are directly across the hall from one another. Just make sure you request specifically what you want.

Studios are probably a little larger than a typical hotel room but have only one bed and a sofa. They also have a small kitchenette with under counter refrig, microwave, toaster, coffe maker, paper plates, and plastic utensils.

Based on what you have said I would get the 2 studios, you save points, and everyone has a little privacy.

Good luck, I hope you get what you want and have a great trip.

Last year, I was in a similar situation. I was traveling with my husband, our 2 sons, my parents, and my husband's parents. I booked three studios at SSR. The rooms were all very close to each other. I would guess maybe four or five rooms apart from each. When I made the reservation, I explained the situation and asked for rooms that were near each other. Of course that could not be guaranteed. It worked out very nicely, because after a long day at the parks, we all needed a little peace and quiet. ;)

I'd sure go with 2 Studios, more for the privacy than the points.

If your party were two families with a kid or two each, I'd give different advice, but for 4 adults two studios would be my choice.

One thing though -- booking at 11 months really isn't going to have anything to do with how close the rooms are. That will be decided by the room assigners shortly before your arrival depending on availability. They'll do the best they can. Frankly, if you're not going to be hanging out in the rooms much, it probably doesn't make a lot of difference.

I agree, but I would also miss the washer and dryer in my room. I always do laundry on vacation, I can't stand coming home with dirty clothes and having to unpack and do laundry at home.

We just returned from HHI and stayed in a studio and it was such a pain to keep running back and fourth. I was always worried I would be late and someone else would be waiting to do their laundry.

:rotfl2: And if you get a lock off- give the in-laws the Studio and when you have had enough, lock- off.

Personally, I book 2br each time, for these reasons:

Love the kitchen and use it, use the laundry room, love the jacuzzi and the king bed. Most of all we like and really enjoy being all together.

In your case where you plan to eat out and don't seem to care about the mstr suite then I would opt for 2 studios, near each other and save your points.

Doing the same thing this Dec. We booked two studios (one for DW & I) and one for the in-laws. We have since decided to try the 2BR for the extra room and the laundry... but Since it's a busy DVC time of year.. we are waitlisted. So it looks like we will be staying in the 2 studios .. which is fine. Hoping for the 2br just to try it out. Good Luck !

The washer/dryer in the room is what I was going to bring up. Not only do we get to bring home clothes that don't need to be cleaned, but it allows us to pack significantly less clothing. For us, the washer/dryer is one of the most important reasons we will probably not book a studio for ourselves.

But the good news is that BCV isn't really a very big resort. No matter what, you won't be all that far from the in-laws, and probably will be pretty close if you request it.

I like the 2 bedroom idea, but DH would go with the 2 studios. He likes his privacy, I like the common area for meeting, the real dishes to use for the few meals we have, and the washer dryer. He "won" for December, I have 2 studios booked at VWL, one for us, and one for DSis and DCuz.
